mascara references needed

"MaureyL" <Maur...@aol.com>
A big breath here...
my beloved Stephane Marais makeup has been discontinued... alas! They
made a completely amazing mascara that was a comb wand. Any other
recommendations for a fantastic comb mascara? Here's what I liked
about the Marais one..
1. fantastic definition with no clumps at all. Every lash was defined
but no clogs or balls on the end of your lashes. In fact, the less you
put on the better it looked. It defined every little lash in one
sweep!
2. No flaking. None.
3. Waterproof yet was removed rather easily with lotion makeup remover
and/or cleansing balm.
I've heard that Paul and Joe also do a good mascara with a comb wand.
Has anyone tried that brand?? has anyone got any ideas for me?? I can
still use my Jo Malone lash darkener and that works very well too but I
hate having the Marais discontinued!

Oh, no! The whole makeup line? I was just admiring the eyeshadow colors
that I have. I love the mascara, too.

If you find a substitute let me know. It seemed like the stuff barely hit
the states before it was gone. I bought it remembering your raves and fell
in love, too.

Althoug I really liked the concept of the comb wand mascara that Stephane
Marais made (so much so that a friend of mine picked one up for me when she
was in Paris), I didn't find that it was particularly remarkable––as far as
length and volume goes––for my Asian lashes. However, the formula really
was glossy/shiny and it was great for applying to bottom lashes when I
wanted to wear mascara there.
I've seen and heard that Rimmel (drugstore line available at Walmart or
Target I think?) has a comb mascara. No doubt it would be a lot cheaper
than the SM, but I'm not sure how it performs. You may want to check out
the reviews on MUA.

I've been salivating over the Rimmel comb mascara at Harmon for a
couple of months now but it's not available in a waterproof formula, at
least not yet. It might be a worthwhile substitute, Maurey, and
definitely not as expensive as the Marais.

Maurey, have you tried using the Marais comb wand with other mascaras?

Hmmm! Good idea. Perhaps I will give this a go and see what
happens...
