Help me find a replacement lipstick

"Debbie" <deb...@pacifier.com>
Hello fashionistas!
I occasionally lurk here when I want to learn more good fashion sense.
I stopped wearing makeup most days about 10 years ago (takes 20 minutes
out of my mornings), and no one at work seemed to notice. However, I
still wear lipstick. I have been babying this tube of Almay One–Coat
Lip Color, color 30 (Woods), for a long long time. When I went to get
more, of course I could not find it.
I'm a 56–year–old redhead, the color is a deep raisin–type (please, no
wines!). It is creamy and goes on like a dream. I can't wear frosts,
they look silly. It also stays on for quite a while. Can anyone there
suggest some replacements that might be very similar?
Thanks so much!
Debbie in Vancouver WA
PS I recently got sucked into buying some Models Prefer. We'll see, I
may just start wearing makeup to work again!

How about Clinique Almost Lipstick in Almost Cocoa? Clinique.com has a
bunch of other lipsticklike products that might fit the bill.

If you're looking for a drugstore lipstick, maybe the Maybelline
Moisture Extreme is pretty similar. I've found them to be fairly opaque
but very lip–balm like in texture (which is how I remember an Almay
lipstick I liked). The web site shows a number of shades like the
raisin color you're after and I think the end cap displays of these
lipsticks are also separated into color families.
I like the feel of this lipstick but I haven't yet found a shade for
me. If I could get the Pink Topaz (the Wet Shine Diamonds color)
without the glitter, I'd be set!

Thanks, Alicia,
I'll look at the Maybelline stuff. I have lots of lipsticks at home,
but they are mostly Clarins samples from a friend who used to be their
counter manager. They have a shea butter "middle", but they aren't
creamy enough and I couldn't find one dark enough. Right now they are
"make do" for me.
And if that doesn't work I'll go take another look at Clinique!
