Advice for Trip to Vancouver, BC

"T. Stewart" <neuro...@shaw.ca>
Hi all,
I've been a lurker for quite a while and have learned many new things from
your posts.
I will be making a trip to Vancouver, BC (Canada) soon and was hoping for
some advice on where to shop for a woman's suit. I'm hoping this will be
the start of my "professional" basics, so I am hoping for a quality suit
that should be good for a number of years.
I am hoping for ideas on which stores to shop (definatly Robson St.) and
also some ideas for what to look for in a suit (blazer, pants, and skirt (if
there)).
Thanks very much,
Tara

Hi Tara,
I love Vancouver. Hopefully it's not too rainy when you go visit. I
bought my first suit in Vancouver at a store called A Wear. I think
it's somewhere in the business downtown area. They have a nice
selection of suits and the price is very reasonable and quality seem
good. I just pulled it out and the tag says made in Canada.
HTH,
Luna

A Wear is on Robson at Burrard. Robson St. is a great choice, and also
check out the boutiques between Robson & Georgia and Robson & Burrard,
too. Don't forget Winners (like TJ Maxx) at Robson & Georgia. If you are
looking for unusual skin care or cosmetics & travel products, check out
Shifeon on Robson –– they offer a $10 coupon for every $50. purchase.
Oakridge Shopping Centre (41st & Cambie) has some of the same boutiques
you'll find on Robson, but under cover, if you don't like rain. Also try
Hill's in Kerrisdale, at 41st & Arbutus. It's a locally–owned store, and
although out of the downtown core, it's well worth the trip. Aritzia is
owned by the same family, and is also a worth a visit. Artizia has
branches on Robson & at Oakridge.
have fun shopping! alexis

Hi Tara,
I live in Vancouver and haven't done a lot of suit shopping but
regularly do all kinds of other clothes shopping :)
Depending on how much money you want to spend, you could check out
Holt Renfrew in Pacific Centre downtown. It's a very upscale
department store. Another upscale place to check out is Leone
(http://www.leone.ca/) downtown at Howe and Hastings. I think they
have an A–Wear boutique (like Luna mentioned).
Personally, one of my favourite stores is Wear Else
(http://www.wearelse.com/). It's a Vancouver–based chain. The one I
go to most is on West 4th but there's also one in Oakridge Centre,
which Alexis mentioned.
If the weather's good, some other nice shopping areas to check out are
West 4th between about Burrard and Trafalgar. There are quite a few
good stores along there (other than Wear Else), like Gravity Pope
(shoes/bags), Lululemon (yoga stuff), etc. There's also the stretch
of Granville Street between Broadway and about 12th Avenue. Actually,
that might be a good spot for suits, as there's a MaxMara and a few
other nicer stores.
Have fun on your trip!
