What's your preferred method for applying powder foundation?

Qintes <rn...@yahoo.com>
Back in the day when I used the OoO I used the sponge it came with to
apply it. The finish was beautiful and flawless. Then when it passed
away I moved on to Studio Fix. SF is much to heavy to apply with a
sponge so I used a powder brush there. But my dry 30ish skin has
started to rebel against SF. It looks to dry and cakey on me now. So I
moved on to Chanel Double Perfection compact which has a much better
finish than SF although not as pretty as OoO. But the Chanel is pretty
and a nice match for me in the lightest shade, Vanilla. I applied it
with a brush at first but it was too sheer that way so now I mostly use
the sponge it came with. Do you all decide on your method of
application based on the product as I've been doing? Or are you either
strictly a sponge or brush person? And what powder foundations have you
used and could you give a little review?
TIA,
Pam

With a product like StudioFix I'd probably tend toward using a brush.
If it's a more sheer, less heavily pigmented product, I'd go for a
sponge. And I never use the sponges that come with these products.
Instead I use an egg–shaped foundation sponge; you can either get the
excellent high–end one from Shiseido or the low–end one from Victoria
Vogue, (drugstore). Both do the job far better than the ones that come
with powder foundations. As for which powder foundations, I think I've
used all of them at one time or another, including Aveda, Origins, SF,
OoO, Awake, UD, EL...eek...if they made it, I bought it. But those
days are long gone; I'm now quite happy alternating between CG TruBlend
powder foundation and BE mineral.

When I used MAC Studiofix, I started using the sponge, but then found
a brush was much better.
The only other powder foundation I've used is Shiseido's Sun
Protection Compact Foundation. The sponge you get is slightly
different from the Shiseido sponge you buy separately, but I find it's
an excellent sponge and I just use it. I haven't actually tried it w/
a brush, just because I've found the sponge works so well.
