New Online Magazine Helps Mothers Replace Fear with Fun
Phoenix, AZ – November 2005 – Initiation into the "Mother Hood" is truly
cruel. Ask almost any mother to tell you about that car ride home from the
hospital with her brand new baby, and she'll tell you all about fear
–– the startling reality of a newborn infant in your total and complete
care. And the fear only grows with the mounds of information piled on from
doctors, nurses, grandmothers or even strangers on the street.
Sorting through it all to find balance and direction is almost more then any
woman can bear.
Introducing an online magazine just for moms. The Mommy Times was built for
moms by moms (in between feedings, changings and reciting ABCs) to be a fun
and informative web resource. Managing editor, Bettijo B.
Hirschi, decided to start The Mommy Times after fruitlessly searching for a
website where she could associate with other mothers in a fun and
comfortable forum.
"What I found was a host of advice sites that made me feel even more afraid
of messing up as a mom," said Hirschi. "What I craved was a fun, inviting
place where I could find strength in the companionship of other mothers."
Following this idea, the mission of The Mommy Times is to help every woman
feel confident and content in her own abilities as a mother. The online
magazine focuses on five aspects of life that define motherhood:
Laugh, Want, Relax, Learn, and Live. These sections will be filled each
month with articles and ideas that will inspire mothers to find more balance
and joy in their life, but most of all will make being a mom more fun.
The magazine's highlights include a "MomMoments" column featuring humorous
war stories from motherhood and seasonal craft ideas to help keep the little
ones entertained. There is also a "7–minutes in Heaven"
column with tips for fitting relaxation into mom's busy schedule.
The Mommy Times is online at www.themommytimes.com. The subscription is free
and includes a virtual "notebook" where moms can collect their favorite
articles for future reference.
"We hope to encourage our readers to come back often and enjoy motherhood
with us," said Hirschi.
