Wax?

"Barbara" <mom_2_...@hotmail.com>
I confess; (i) I *need* to wax my upper lip; (ii) I can never get it
right. I'd give in and go to the salon, but I'm the one who once
allowed a short hair cut to grow to shoulder length because I didn't
have time for a haircut; my intentions are good, but it's just not
going to happen on a regular basis. So, what is the most foolproof,
easiest wax for this task?

Buy a wax warmer and wax from Sally Beauty Supply (the brand is GiGi).
Also buy muslin strips. You can do it at home this way.

As a guy, I've just gotta say... doesn't that HURT like hell ripping
your hair out like that? No matter WHO does it?
But then, I've heard that women have a higher pain tolerance. Which
might make sense seeing they put up with enough from us men...

Noticed in Bed Bath & Beyond one of those epilady things –– supposedly does
it without wax? It was next to the shaving balm so I couldn't help but
notice.

it does matter who does it, and it does matter which product you
use. i've used a few different brands of wax personally and in
the salon. GiGi isn't the best. try a salon that uses the
Depileve system. it's one of the best waxing systems i've ever
used. here's a link with some information about it:

people who wax really should get some sort of training. i
remember before i'd gotten any training of any sort, trying to
wax a friend. the results were not pretty – i put the wax on too
thick, tried to wax her upper lip all in one stroke (rather than
one side, then the other). people who have no waxing training
are thisclose from ripping someone's skin off. if they do it to
themselves, that's their problem. if they do it to someone else,
well, that could be really, really bad.
waxing may seem like an easy task – until you rip off your skin
due to improper application. don't think it will happen to you?
be very careful!

Salley Hansen pre–waxed strips for face. Easier than the wax+warmer setup if
you're a no fuss and no muss kind of person.
