moods

– Estee Lauder DayWear
– Dior cream cleanser
– Prescriptives personalized foundation and powder

soft, easy to apply
– L'Oreal lip gloss in tube
– Aveeno foaming cleanser for sensitive skin
– Giorgio Armani lipsticks and foundation

Misses:
– Neutrogena cream cleanser for sensitive skin: does not take off dirt

Evie––
is the the Magic Gelee cleanser? I have that too and really like it.
Here are my hits, as I'm getting back on the old makeup bandwagon after
a long hiatus away!
Hits:
Annick Goutal Creme Splendide cream, facial toner, eye cream and mask.
If I were fabulously wealthy, I would buy the entire line––I love the
simplicity of it, the smell of the creams and the way it works on my
super dry skin.
Clarins cream cleanser for normal/dry skin with alpine herbs. This has
been around for ages.. I remember the Clarins girl raving it about it
for the brief time that I sold makeup twenty years ago. But it is the
business... it removes makeup and is very gentle and soothing on dry
skin. It smells fresh too and comes off easily with water.
Clinique brow powder duo. Fantastic for drawing in brows––soft,
blendable powder and a lovely slanted brush included IN the compact! I
use this to sketch in the shape of my eyebrow and then feather up/fill
in with my Bliss eyebrow pencil in powder form. My brows look soft and
as natural as they're going to look to my eye, anyway.
Bobbi Brown Special foundation balm. The perfect foundation for me
while my skin is drying out from chemo. Not the perfect shade match (a
bit too greeny–yellow) but the coverage is so sheer it blends right in.
Chanel Blanc primer. Cooling and magical going on and a great partner
for the Bobbi Brown foundation. It does dry a tad powdery for my
crocodile skin but I'm hoping that my skin won't be this parched
forever. It does keep me super matte––my blot papers are gathering
dust in my cabinet!
Weleda Wild Rose cleanser–– Another winner in the lotion cleanser
stakes. My skin feels super soft after using this and it takes all my
makeup off, no problem. The lotion is a bit thin in texture and I hate
the funky, awkward glass bottle. I'm afraid that it's going to slip
out of my hands, so these days I tend to reach more for the Clarins
cleanser.
Guerlain Midnight Secret. Bought this some time ago in Duty Free and
have been using it as an overnight cream. Very very effective and my
skin does glow in the morning.
Stila scrub––Super gentle and just perfect for skin that's sensitive
and dry.
No real misses this month, I love everything I've posted on...

Laughing my ass off here. Stevie sent me a couple jars of stuff by
Earthen––peptide infusion and something else. I've been loving the
infusion. It is very soothing and I do believe it has diminished lines
around my mouth and eyes. I've been slopping it on my face every day after
cleansing. Jean's curiosity prompted me to google for Earthen skincare. I
found the product I've been using––and it's nearly $150 for a 1.7 oz. jar!
I will *not* be buying a replacement jar anytime soon.

near–miss:
Revlon Overtime lip color in Endless Spice.
'Tweren't for the 3 dollar coupon I used, I'd be even less pleased. Oh
sure, the color lasts, but once that shiny topcoat is gone, the bottom
coat got a very grainy feel to it. I've even tried putting on a very
light coat and then placing regular lipstick on top – still not
thrilled with the result. One more item to join the makeup morgue.

Some of these are old, but I always forget to post!
HITS:
Kusco–Murphy Beach Hair. This is HG for my fine wavy hair. Gives it
body, holds all day and smells yummy. Please everyone buy this so they
keep making it.
Korres Primrose eye cream –
This only has an SPF of 6, and doesn't claim any cosmeceutical
properties but it's a very good quickly absorbed moisturizer. I bought
this after trying a sample.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Perfectly Plum
– feels good, lasts, and a great fall color. And not stinky like some
Revlon lipsticks.

I have fine, slightly wavy hair and love Beach Hair too.
Hits:
––Suki Naturals shampoo. I purchased a bunch of their skin care
products and got a sample of the shampoo, which I then had to have. My
hair tangles a lot after shampooing and is hard to comb out unless I
use conditioner. This leaves my hair easy to comb out without
conditioner. It cleans well, doesn't weigh down my hair, and leaves it
with more body and volume than usual. Great stuff!! It's a lot less
viscous than most shampoos, so works best to apply small amounts at a
time and wash the scalp in sections––it takes more time than a regular
shampoo, but I think I end up doing a better job of cleaning the scalp.
––Nars Masai lipstick. I got this after reading some endorsements
here, and it immediately became my everday lipstick. I'd been looking
for a lip color that would be a lightish, coolish neutral, not too
pink, not too light, and not frosty or shimmery looking on the lips––a
counterpart to nude for wearing with cool–toned colors. This is IT.

Ooh, I want this lipstick now! Sorry to add on to my earlier post but
I have "come alive" again and have been on a purchasing frenzy!
HITS
The Tarte Christmas collection. I got both palettes (think they're
called Siren and Temptress) and they're both amazing. The gel eyeliner
in the siren compact is to die for. So easy to work with ! The
sparkling colors are very holiday and the lipgloss duo (Roger and Mimi)
goes well with everything. I also got Flush which I also love. The
cheekstains are really really easy to use, just scrub them on your
cheek and then blend a tiny bit with a sponge. works for me! I also
got Clean Slate, which is a silicone primer. It probably won't work
if/when my skin reverts back to its normal state but it's heaven on
earth with my skin so scaly and dry. Wonderful wonderful.
Gemma Kidd makeup school. Very impressed with the makeup I got. I got
a dewy primer which is basically a subtle shimmer/glimmer cream that I
mix with the Light as Air foundation, which comes in an adorable
squeeze tube. It all goes on easily and is very lightweight (warning,
though.. very little coverage!) The eyeshadows come in quads and are
very well edited... I want The Naturals, which feature neutral taupey
shades with a kick of subdued seafoam green (very transparent shine in
this) and the two types of mascara also look worth a shot (there's a
lash building one and a more natural stay– on –for –three days kind
too) There's a heavier cream foundation, lip pencils, mini lipsticks
and wand lipglosses and a translucent powder. All in all, I was very
drawn to the line but for right now I stuck with the foundation and the
cream primer. I think you could very easily use the primer much like
the Laura Mercier Secret Finish as well, highlighting cheeks and so on.
We shall see...
MISS
Shavata's brow stencils. Bahhh––I can do my brows better by hand!

Uh oh, another lightweight foundation to lust after. I wonder when this
line will make it to the US. The eyeshadows sound droolworthy and I'm
not even a big fan of shadows. The mini lipsticks sound good for using
on the go which for me is a necessity because 99.9% of the time I seem
to be on the go when making up.
Color me enabled :–). And I'm so glad to hear about that spree Maurey,
it can only be a good sign.

Maurey, thanks for the reviews of the products. I agree with Vicki on
all counts.
