Glasses frames

beesw...@aol.com
I just ordered a pair of rimless Oliver Peoples frames...I've been
looking for glasses frames I genuinely like for literally years, and
these were just what I'd wanted. I wasn't familiar with the name, so I
was surprised to find that the frames were so pricy; though, by this
time, I was desperate enough that I got them anyway. Can anyone tell me
anything about this line of glasses? Looking around the Web, I see they
are from LA and seem to be fairly well known in California.
Also, out of curiousity, are rimless glasses still considered in vogue?
I really like the idea of the frames being practically invisible, but
the optician did tell me that this particular frame was a older style.
(Of course, he phrased it as "I only have on pair left...and when they
are gone, they're gone!" It's all a matter of spin. :) )
Thanks.

I know SO many family members and friends who love this brand– I think
their frames are generally chic, classic, and of great quality.

It seems like the "sexy librarian" glasses are still in style, but I've
always liked a more invisible look for glasses. I've had a pair of
Ralph Lauren titanium thin–rimmed small glasses for a good three years
now and I still love them. It's really all a matter of personal
preference and since I have really delicate facial features, this
particular type works better with my face. The "sexy librarian"
glasses look great on some people, but even if I could pull them off, I
would never buy them since they're simply not "me". HTH!

I recently purchased a pair of glasses from an optician friend who
sells frames as a sideline. We went through all of her cases of frames
that she sells to optical shops, and I can report that she had
innumerable pairs of rimless glasses available. So while the
particular shape or size of frame that you selected may no longer be
available, or may no longer be available from that optician, frameless
glasses continue to be available. In fact, *almost* bought a pair, as
that would be my *usual* style. Since I rarely wear glasses, though
(I'm a dedicated contact lens kind of a girl), I decided to be a bit
different, and go with a heavier frame.
Ob your thread about tinting –– I always got my glasses slightly tinted
in the days before nonreflective coatings were available, as it cut
down on the glare. I now go with the coating, which I vastly prefer.

Thanks! That's very comforting. I hadn't heard of them...but I haven't
really been paying attention, either. :)

You have my curiousity perked! What are considered "sexy librarian"
glasses?
I like how rimless disappears. I think I'm really going to like my new
glasses!
Thanks for responding!

Thanks...that's great to know. I looked around the Web, too, and
rimless sure seemed to be popular. I was afraid the look was "so last
year" –– but it seems to be "this year," too! Which is lucky for me.

That makes sense. I had the nonglare coating recommended to me, and I'm
going with that. Thanks for your thoughts!

I hope rimless glasses are still in vogue because I just spent a fortune
on a pair this week. The frames are Swarovski but I still can't find a
link to them. I can't stand tinted lenses and hopefully they will look
invisible on my face since I'm at the point where I now need them all
the time.

According to this article (dated Sept. 2005)
http://www.visioncareproducts.com/48/lens_expo.html
rimless frames remain "hot."
So I think we're both okay, fashionwise!
Personally, I love the look...or the lack of being able to see the
glasses much, rather.
