For recently discontinued items, I recommend checking at stores like Big
Lots. Check as many as you canand ask friends and family in other parts
of the world to check tooand check often. (It may take awhile between the
time an item is removed from regular retail shelves and the time it appears
at Big Lots or Dollar Store or...)
I would also look on Ebay and Makeup Alley *if* you are certain that the
items don't become unusable if they sit around open but unused.

Since I'm in my 50s, I've had to get used to favourite cosmetics. being
discontinued over the years, but this week I found out that several are
gone suddenly. I made the mistake of not stocking up until I ran low. All
of these have been around for years and there is nothing as good as them
on the market.
L'Oreal Rouge Pulp (no replacement)
Maybelline Moisture Whip (replaced by Moisture Extreme, missing my shade)
L'Oreal Color Endure (no replacement)
Neutrogena Body Lotion (that matched their sesame body oil)
There are others too, but these were my special favourites I had used for
some years.
The websites for these cosmetics don't even have an email address you can
write to. Few people are going to sit down and write a letter and mail it.
I did that about a decade ago about the best conditioner I ever used in my
life, which was suddenly discontinued. I never got a reply. I am very sure
they don't care anyway. They are notorious for taking away almost all my
favourites. Some years ago they changed the formula of the one mascara
that really worked. I still use it as I've found nothing better, but it is
not the same at all.
Twice in the past I loved a lipstick so much that I bought up all I could
as I feared they would be discontinued (and they were). I put them in the
refrigerator and they kept just fine, and they've lasted over 8 years so
far. But eventually they will be all gone too. And of course I need a
variety of shades and textures.
Just my rant, and I know many others are irritated by the cosmetics
company doing this constantly. With Rouge Pulp I became complacent. I
thought since it was around for about 7 years it would stay. Wrong. All
their glosses now have to be shiny, sheer, with sparkles in them. In fact
it was in the stores one or two weeks ago and I was thinking I should buy
more soon. When I went to buy it this week, the shelves were stripped,
even the displays were gone. A clerk told me the company comes and removes
the products. It would be nice if they gave a warning in their ads that
something is going to be discontinued soon.
The worst insult is that the boring and useless L'Oreal lipsticks are
still there large as life in every store. The ones with the terrible smell
and awful colours.
Before I close, let me mention Max Factor. I used and loved their
lipsticks since I was 13. They deleted and changed them...only one store
carries them here and they are a completely new and unusable formula First
they changed the pleasant smell to a rancid smell; then they deleted
everything and the new stuff is just some experiment they are going
through.
The worst mistake one can make is to throw away a favourite before being
sure it can be replaced. There is always a lot left in the bottom that can
be gotten with a lip brush.
I still have my one Rouge Pulp and will use it on special occasions only.
