Old 70's Raincoat

"Woodue" <wkeesamyw...@gmail.com>
Greetings,
Back in the early 1970's, I had a rubber yellow raincoat that had sort
of a metal "hinge" type mechanism for closing it up the front. It had
a separate rain hat/hood that came right down the back and sides to
about the shoulders, and had two snaps that closed in the front under
the chin.
This style of raincoat used to be seen in the old Calvin & Hobbes
comics on occasion.
I was wondering if anyone knew what type of raincoat it was and if
there is still something like it made.

This is called "foul weather gear" and it's usually associated with
sailing. I'd guess you could find it at any shop, online or B&M, that
specializes in sailing gear. Before South Street Seaport in NYC went
totally commercial, there was an actual sailing supply shop down there
and I know they had that kind of gear.
HTH.

I don't recall them being known by that – they were just a rubber
raincoat/hat worn day to day (when it rained) on the streets.
