Fall Coat Suggestions for San Francisco Vacation

fastfw...@hotmail.com
I'm making a trip to San Francisco at the end of November and I think
I might want to find a new coat that will be stylish, affordable, and
appropriate for the climate. I'm seeing that pea coats might
possibly be in style this season? Shearling will probably be out of my
price range – unless there is a really nice faux shearling coat to be
found that is affordable.
Thanks for any suggestions. This will be my first visit to San
Francisco, so I'm not sure what might be best. The pea coat sounds
as though it might fit the bill.

I'm also seeing lots of peacoats in stores, but also trenches as well. I'm
not sure what coat style will take over this year but either would be good
for SF at the time you are visiting because it won't be really cold yet
you'll need some sort of outerwear.
Here are the temp statistics:

At the end of Nov it could be rainy (not pouring or stormy, just wet), or it
could be dry, sunny, and clear. When you check the forecast before your trip
you'll know whether you should bring along a raincoat/trench.

I live 50 miles south of SF. We take something warm even going up there
in the summer. The rains usually start in November, but November can be
quite nice. I, too, would suggest a good trenchcoat with a warm zip–out
lining (not buttons because it is too easy to start on the wrong button
and have to do it again). My experience is to have some kind of
headcovering that stays on. A crusher hat (velvet, velour, fleece
maybe?) would help, but I'd take an antique–looking hatpin to hold it
on. The winds downtown come whistling through the streets and it can
really get to your ears––and you do NOT want to be chasing your hat
down the street. Don't forget gloves, a warm scarf and a handy
umbrella. This is NOT like Chicago, believe me, but you DO want to stay
warm. Have fun! It's a GREAT city!

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm a guy by the way – lol. I
probably should have indicated that in my post.

Oh, that is funny! Maybe you could start a big fad...guys in velvet
crushers with antique hatpins LOL! My crusher even has a burgundy
flower––you'd look great––a new look for the men. SF would go for that!
BTW, My husband got a great deal on a microfibre trench raincoat with
zip–out liner at Burlington Coat Factory––London Fog.
