Where can I find men's suit vests?

"Sher" <sherryjelli...@hotmail.com>
My DH likes to wear vests to work in the summertime (as opposed to a
sportscoat in the fall and winter.) I'm having a hard time trying to
find them lately. Have they been phased out? Are they out of style?
I can only find tuxedo vests in that shiny fabric on the front and that
disposable black lining on the back. Do any of you know where I can
find a nice woven fabric vest that he can wear with his slacks and a
shirt and tie to work? Preferrably in neutral colors like...charcoal
grey, navy blue, camel or rich khaki, and black.??
Any assistance or tips is appreciated.
BTW, I looked at most of the major department stores here in Austin, TX
and had no luck.
Thanks..
Sher~

site The woven fabric you describe sound to me like the ones that are
part of a men's lightweight wool suit. My husband hasn't worn vests in
years so where we live they are out of style. Perhaps there are other
traditional men's clothing sites.

Were they ever "in style", per se? That's not a criticism––I think
it's great that your husband wants to have a distinctive look.
Jos. Bank sells traditional suiting–fabric vests––they may have actual
stores near you, but you can also buy online:
http://www.josbank.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=228782&Section_Id=1110
I thought this was cute, too:
http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/asp/base_no.54374/dept_id.L1~4335/qx/product.htm
These people make custom vests from handwoven wool:

Good luck!

As always, I'd hit Ebay first. Then Salvation Army. Vests may be unworn
even if the rest of a suit is well–worn, so finding unused "used" vests is
probably feasible.
