i don't know about shine but it helps condition and controls frizzies.

When should you apply the oil for best result? Will it make the hair
look greasy and flat?

Not if done right. I apply it to mostly–wet hair, and it avoids the
oily/clumpy look that way. Once my hair is dry, a quick brushing will
separate any clumps.

Not if done right. I apply it to mostly–wet hair, and it avoids the
oily/clumpy look that way. Once my hair is dry, a quick brushing will
separate any clumps.
