"Smart Casual Attire" Question for an outdoor benefit

"beth" <bethsteinm...@gmail.com>
Hi All,
I will be attending an outdoor benefit, held from 6:30 – 9:30 pm. The
dress is "smart casual". Since it will be hot and humid, would it be
appropriate to wear a Lilly Pulitzer shift dress, matching Lilly shoes,
and a Lilly pink cardigan tied around my shoulders? Or, should I go
with the more subdued basic black sleeveless dress, Hermes Scarf,
mid–heel slides?
Thanks for any opinions!
Beth

Your Lilly outfit sounds perfect to me but it all depends on where you
live and the type of benefit. I live in central CA and our outdoor
benefits range from wear your fanciest but coolest dress and heels to
that mid range of anything goes smart casual to dressy long shorts and
tops.

The first outfit sounds really cute and appropriate for outdoors. The
second outfit sounds like something more suited for an indoor cocktail
party.

I agree to that. I like the first outfit better.

|Regarding the shoes, are you going to be on grass? If so, will the
heel aerate and get stuck? If so, will slides bother you doing this?
If it's mixed then I wouldn't be as concerned.
