OT: Father's Day

Leigh Melton <le...@nbi.com>
Sort of OT–ish, anyway.
Joe isn't a dad, unless you count being a cat–dad, but I like the idea
of a special day for the guys so I usually get him something for
Father's Day.
This year it's a bottle of Faconnable Classic and some goodies from
Lou Malnati's. Joe's an ex–pat Chicago Italian and he loves those
kind of pizzas you have to eat with a spoon. :)
What are you getting your guy for Father's Day? (Dad or not!)

Taking my Dad to Ray's Boathouse (fancy seafood restaurant) for Father's
Day Brunch, and bought him one of these, which I know he'll like because
he's a soccer fanatic and has lived in both Portugal and [South] Korea:

My Stepson always forgets fathers day so I always buy for my Husband. This
year I'm seriously thinking about buying him a Mac mini.

no Dad's here, but the Cats are always buying us presents :–))

I am currently on hold with Tommy Bahama. I am ordering a shirt for my
husband...a green silk one with dollar signs on it. He manages money for
the base so this is quite appropriate.
I'm hoping that there isn't a problem with mailing it. The store needs to
go to the Post Office and fill out a customs form and the clerk sounded a
little sceptical. Here's hoping!

When I was a poor college student I started a tradition of buying my
father a new copy of one of the Science Fiction classics he owned that I
had worn out through constant rereading. Now I tend to buy him a new
book I think he'll like – usually a paperback. This year I may splurge
and get him the first three of my new favorite SF series – The Company
by Kage Baker. (The first one is In the Garden of Iden if you're
interested. NAYY.)

That's a great idea. I've bought DH two Izod polo shirts and an
assortment of hand crafted beer. I bought favortites such as Modelo
Especial, Firestone amber, Alaskan amber and Sierra Nevada pale ale but
the one I couldn't pass up was He'brew, the chosen beer, Genesis ale
that says conceived in San Francisco, brewed in New York.

I may have to use your idea, Audrey! I just found out the earlier books
are OOP – and even my beloved Powells doesn't have used copies. So I
either need to do a real abebooks type search or go for plan B!
