What face cleansers do you love now?

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
I had been using Lancome's mousse confort in the pink tube, Clairins 2
in 1 scrub, and a Sisley scrub. Then I started to use some of my
samples. I am currently in love with the scent and feel of Shiseido's
The Skincare gentle cleansing foam. Unfortunately it wasn't available
on the Nordstom site when I was placing an order for the beauty bag
event. I'll probably buy it in SF next weekend.
I use a toner occasionally but basically I wipe down my eyes with the
Almay non oily eye makeup remover pads and then cleanse once or twice
with a cleanser. If I feel ambitious I then use a scrub or toner.

I have been using something from Facial Magic that removes all my makeup
particularly mascara. It rinses nicely too.
another one I have been using with great success is the Mario Badescu aha
cleanser. it's green and doesn't foam. It doesn't remove eye makeup –– I
wouldn't use it for that anyway bec of the AHA component but it's beautiful
at doing a gentle mild exfoliation

Well, this is a 'still', rather than a 'now'.
On my 99th jar of Rachel Perry citrus aloe cleanser – $12.42 for 4 oz.
jar from vitaminshoppe.com. Lasts for about 4 months. Lovely scent,
consistency of mayo. My pm choice.
Also still like Aveeno foaming cleanser – about 6.99 – my am in the
shower choice.
VEry hapy with these and won't experiment with anything new.

I received an order from Skin1 a few days ago.
I ordered the Yonka Contour Phyto eye balm/cream and Jane Iredale
Absence, which I love.
For the first time I ordered Yonka Gel Nettoyant cleansing gel...I am
quite pleased as it cleanses well without drying. The gel has such a
nice scent. Will defnitely reorder this item.

I recently went back to an old favorite: Lancome Clarifiance. This
cleanser brings back memories of the old AF (around 96–98) when I used to
rave about this a lot here! Anwyay, it's so refreshing to use in the
summer, it removes my eye makeup without irritation, and it leaves my skin
feeling totally clean and soft.

You have unleashed a beast in me, as I can't resist cleansers! My
favorites are lotion cleansers or balm cleansers. Right now I'm back
on Eve Lom cleansing cream, though it's a bit of a faff at night when
I'm already tired. Otherwise, I really like Boots' Cucumber lotion
cleanser (a total steal at =A31.99) or Dr Hauschka's Cleansing Milk. In
the morning I wash with Clean and Clear's Quick Clear cleanser with
salicylic acid. I also had an entire arsenal of scrubs that I use as
well, but a fave combo is the mix my REN scrub with the Cucumber
cleanser from Boots, then rinse off. Heaven!

You've become such a Brit! What is a faff or is that simply an acronym?
I wonder if the Boots lotion is part of the line now sold at B&BW.
$1.99 is a steal for a great cleanser and cucumber is soothing inthe
summer.

I originally was using the Lancome Mousse Confort (in the pink tube) when I
received a deluxe sample. I absolutely *loved* the way that this made my
face feel––super duper silky soft and smooth, and no dryness whatsoever.
Unfortunately, after about 2 months of use, I noticed that I started to
break out and my facialist noted that my pores were much more clogged. I
ended up abandoning it and switching back to my beloved Pola Salus II
Washoff Cleanser.
However, given the fact that the Pola Salus II line is discontinued (and has
been for a long time––thank goodness for stockups), I've still been on the
search for the perfect replacement, and I found it!
My facialist has been using the Sothys line on me for over a year, and my
skin seems to really love it. My all–time favorite is the Normalizing Milk
Cleanser. This smells like a wonderful mix of grapefruit and lemon and is
so refreshing. It took a while for me to get used to using a milk cleanser
(I'm used to foamy cleansers), but once I got the right consistency between
cleanser and water, it's worked like a dream. It's definitely my
replacement and I've already bought 3 bottles, just in case. :)

Leigh Melton <le...@nbi.com>
Morning shower I use IOPE Purifying Cleansing Milk. Evening is makeup
removal is my favorite for a long time, Biore Make Off cleansing
cotton, followed by Amore's Ginkgo Natural Facial Cleansing Tissue.
I like the IOPE line. Doesn't aggravate my rosacea cheeks but keeps
my skin smooth.

i have been using mir skin care from www.coolessentials.com, she makes a
cleanser which is similar in appearance to cetaphil, but light years away in
ingredients. this, combined with the argan oil she also sells, and
occasionally the toner, has turned my sensitive ruddy skin into normal,
healthy, non–blotching skin. i'll never use anything else again.

Lately I've used Mary Kay's 3–in–1 Cleanser with success. When it gets
hot out it will probably be too heavy so I'll have to switch to
something else.
I like to use Almay's NonOily eyemakeup remover pads to get the
waterproof mascara off my lashes before I cleanse.
Also, I have a teensy bit of BBW bio face smoothing facial scrub left.
Of course, it's discontinued and I have to find another scrub to use a
couple times a week during the summer. Something that I can use on my
combo skin that won't completely dry me out...
seems like i'm always on the hunt...
"MaureyL" <Maur...@aol.com>
Can you use the Rachel Perry cleanser to take off eye makeup? (eyeing
this choice though I have enough cleansers to sink a battleship as it
is!)
"val189" <gwehr...@bellsouth.net>
Yes – altho I don't use waterproof mascara. But in that case, I guess
baby oil would work.
Thought of you a while back – Adrienne was one and had BOGO free on her
meltdown, which she now puts out in many 'flavors'. Still like it?

I've been giving the Cetaphil a go for the past few weeks. My skin
seems to love it now. We'll see how long that lasts. I'm
skeptical/snobby about off–the–shelf products. I'd been a Pevonia fan
for years, but thought I'd try something that's supposed to be even
more gentle on my sensitive skin.

you're quite welcome. at first i figured "horse pucky", especially when i
read the usual line about using only these products for two weeks, but i
stuck with it, and my skin became happy and now rarely even stings unless i
use something else to torment it.
i'm not wild about her moisturizer, but the cleanser is the most brilliant
thing i've used since the original cetaphil (30!! years ago).

the suggestion that AHA, retinol and other exfoliating products (which

be avoided; all it says is that they *disturb the skin's balance* (or

What skin cleansers do you love now?
MD Skincare(Dr. Dennis Gross) All–in–one facial cleanser – this whole
line works wonders on my skin. This cleanser goes on lotion–y,does a
good job of off make–up and then foams up a bit when you add water,
making me feel like I'm double cleansing even when I'm too lazy to do
such a thing. Biggest drawback – the combo of the color of the product
and the pump bottle bring to mind the unfortunate image of getting a
handful of snot. Gaaah. But it works really well, so I try not to dwell
on that. F for aesthetics, A for effectiveness.
Also – Epicuren Discovery Citrus Herbal Cleanser. Smells fabulous –
like fresh oranges – and makes my face feel super clean, but not not
stripped, if you know what I mean. Love this. It was a gift, so I'm not
sure what it costs. I should probably research that before falling
completely in love with it.
"Laurie B." <merlesk...@yahoo.com>
I'm still using the DHC Cleansing Oil, which I normally would have
shelved for the summer, but it works, my skin feels clean and I'm not
breaking out, so I'm sticking with it.
I usually follow up with Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream, which is mealy
and sort of yeasty–smelling, but gently exfoliates and leaves my skin
feeling soft.
Most days I just do a water rinse in the morning; a few days a week I
use Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub (raved about by––I
think––cofarb and EMD). It's gentle as well and does a nice job
priming my skin for moisturizer and makeup.........Laurie B.

well, if you believe dr. perricone, yes, irritation is aging to your skin. i
do know from personal and familial experience, irritating your skin to make
it look better does not work, but leaving it almost completely alone will
help it tremendously. my college age daughter developed mild cystic acne,
and the thing that finally worked was less frequent cleansing with aquanil
followed by a spritz of neroli hydrosol, a routine she skipped entirely
about half of the time. her skin is now flawless.

So am I, my last cleanser was Caudalie's cleansing milk, sold at Aedes,
NM and other similar places but after hearing the raves about Cetaphil,
getting increasingly drier skin and wanting more bang for my cleanser
buck, I got on the Cetaphil bandwagon a couple of months ago. So far so
good. Since I don't wear alot of makeup it works for me. Of course YMMV
especially if you wear more m/u than I do. You'll probably want to give
EMD's double cleansing routine a shot and use more foamy cleansers.

Im loving Basis right now. Im 43...and a half (I wont be 44 until Oct

I had starting having angry, itchy "hot spots" on one side of my face.
I have always had great skin, no blemishes, a little oily but that
keeps skin looking "young" I hear...some of it I chalked it up to my
new husband's (we've been married for 6 months, together for 6 before
that) habit of not just ironing the pillow cases but starching them.
Once I put an end to that a lot of my skin probs stopped but I still
got some irritation. Maybe its my age, hormones changing and all but I
have been frantically searching for cleansers and moisturizers that
dont make my face mad at me. Basis seems to be working and Eucerin Q10

You might actually be thinking of Booth's and not Boots when it comes to
availability at Target, Vicki. Booth's is at Target and Rite Aid, but Boots
is an entirely different company. Boots is a company that was named after a
man from Nottingham, England. Both companies make very good products as far
as I'm concerned.
I haven't used the Boots Cucumber cleanser (from the U.K.), but I've used
the Boots Cucumber facial cleansing wipes (some friends from Nottingham
stayed with me last Summer and left them with me along with some Boots
Sunblock and some Boots After Tanning Spray) and they're quite nice.
At Rite Aid I got some BOOTH'S mineral bath soak (it's the consistency of a
creamy, lotion style body wash–––don't let the name fool you.) for use in
the shower and bath. I like it quite a bit. I got the mint scent and the
citrus one.
I like the mint better, but both are really great. A big, round flip–cap 16
oz. bottle is about seven dollars. Booth's is made in Canada and in the U.S.
it's manufactured by Delicious Brands, out of Dallas, TX. I've seen it at
Target, too. Target usually has the milk shower wash and the walnut body
scrub, too. I've heard great things about the walnut body scrub, but I
haven't tried it yet.
I have never seen the Boots products from Nottingham, England at any Target
stores, but I've heard that you can find them in certain parts of British
Columbia, Canada.
