What happened to the one–size–fits–all t–shirts?

casiocult...@gmail.com
Just watched a 1991 movie, Slacker, and plenty of people were wearing
those one–size–fits–all t–shirts that came in a choice of 18 or 24
colors, you know, the ones where the shoulder seams were halfway down
your arms... whatever happened to those? At one time it seemed that
that's what everyone was ever going to wear; I remember those racks
full of 'em!
They disappeared like a whisper in the wind.

They didn't really "fit all" and the look went out of style. But fear
not, they'll surely be back around the same time we have grunge redux.
Think it won't happen? People said the same things about flares and
they came clamoring back anyway. It shouldn't be too long, we are
already redoing the 80's now. Can the early 90's be far behind? Stay
tuned for Grunge II – Son of Grunge. Oh, yes, it will happen.
We may still have to go back through reruns of harem pants, wide
stretch belts, shoulder pads, and jeans with more pleats than an
accordion before we get to grunge and giant tshirts, but they will
come.

Huh?
Grunge?
Those t–shirts got nothing to do with grunge; they're 1980s
left–overs... they're hip–hop!

Indeed.
Grunge?
You mentioned a movie from 1991. Grunge was coming in around that time.
My point was that things people were wearing in 1991 will all be back
at around the same time. It's not a coincidence that wrap dresses and
skinny–leg pants are now coming back around the same time, for
instance.

Hey, you're the one who said 1991 in the OP. I remember the giant tees,
but since they weren't a look I was into, I didn't remember precisely
when they appeared. But anyway, if they're from the 80s' then they'll
be back around the same time as 80's clothes from that approximate time
period. Probably a couple years from now since IMHO we're solidly in an
early 80's redux fashion–wise.

When Kurt Cobain's music starts making a big comeback and Courtney Love
reforms her band and goes on tour <shudder!>.

I must have missed last summer's grunge revival. Or was it cancelled
when Love's tour was cancelled?
