Rasera – bladeless "shaving" – Veet – anyone try it?

"hockeygirlpred" <hockeygirlp...@comcast.net>
I was at Sam's yesterday and grabbed "Rasera" from Veet, I am letting my
leg hair grow out a day or two more. Anyone try this yet?
Any tips?

Is it like Nair?

The advertisement I saw in Allure stated that you have to use this
bladeless razor with their special shaving cream. Which makes me think
you're really buying a Nair–like product, n'est–ce pas? And the
bladeless thingy is actually superfluous, right? I mean, does the
"rasera" work with ordinary shaving creams/gels?
Sounds dopey to me.

Their website says, "Hair is quickly and painlessly dissolved while
the skin is being moisturized" which sounds like a depilatory to
me. I'm trying to save up for Emjoi AP99 Optima Epilator.

Mine is on its way from Amazon right now – should be here tomorrow. I hope
I like it.

When you use it with a shaving cream that contains urea, potassium
thioglycolate, and calcium hydroxide... no problem at all.
In other words, it's a depilatory.
You could "shave" with a towel if you wanted to.

I have'nt tried the product yet, but I do plan on purchasing the
product soon. I do think it's alot like the nair products the only
thing is that you don't have to use a sponge or washcloth to wipe of
the hair thats being removed, because with the nair which I'm currently
using I have to wipe off with a washcloth or sponge which I hate, so to
me the veet would be great because I can use the bladeless razor
instead of a sponge or washcloth, but that's just my opinion.

I did buy Rasera from Veet. The sales lady said it was something like
Nair.
I did like the razor better than cloth or sponge. I guess the razor could
be used with nair or any other depilatory

Veet is Reckitt Benckiser's brand name for depilatories.
Both use thioglycolates and calcium hydroxide to remove hair.
Appropriately enough, Veet comes from the same people that make
Easy–Off Oven Cleaner. (Really!)

Well, I did try it after all. I let the hair grow out just a bit more.
Sprayed on and covered legs evenly. The regular smell was very minimal.
Some depilatories can really stink
The razor is really mis–labeled. It should be called a scraper with rubber
tip. You let the cream stay on for no more than 6 mins. They shave/scrape
off. That seems to take off the hair better than wiping.
I did it on Monday night and today is Thurs morning. They is a oh so
slight stubble but not the need for a shave. So far so good.
the next trick is to see how many applications I get from each can. The set
I bought had 3 cans and 2 scrapers.
I did use both scrapers at the same time. You really have to knock off the
used product. So I let one soak in the sink while using the other.
No nicks!!

I used this stuff prior to my spa day in Vegas. I don't know if I had a
reaction, left it on too long, or what but I had a pretty bad chemical rash
for days! The worst part was getting my (first ever) body wrap. They had
me down for the eucalyptus wrap and it really stung and tingled on my legs.
I've switched back to Nair but I'm tempted to try the scraper with it.

Was the smell better or worse than Nair and by how much? My husband hates
the smell of Nair and I was hoping for something better. On a scale of 1
to 10 with Nair being about a 9, where does Veet fall?
TIA,

Veet broke me out horribly both times I used it as well! I don't have any
problems with Nair, but yes, the smell is awful – but I'll take the smell
over the rash.

I didn't mind the smell. What I did object to were the hives Veet gave me.
Darn things took almost a month to clear up after using Veet once. I have
never had hives before or since either. Nasty rash, yuck.
