What I bought today

Stacy <stac...@stacyef.net>
Took the DC Metro to Union Station to pick up cannolis for dessert
tonight. A co–worker told me that Vaccaro's is the place to go for good
Italian pastries in DC and my husband was also craving one so off I
went. I stopped at a little boutique with tie–dyed tops because there
were some cute TYFM necklaces that caught my eye at the entrance of the
store. They're made from single Swarovski crystal beads on flexible
silver wire necklaces and they have small LED lights within the beads
that really showed off the color and facets of the crystals. I HAD to
have a couple even though they're a bit silly. The web site for the
company that makes them is:
www.firejewel.com
The website doesn't do them justice. I purchased one simple crystal
necklace that lights up purplish–blue (the faceted cube style because I
have a regular, colorless Swarovski crystal bracelet that uses identical
beads, without the lighting, of course and I could wear them together).
I purchased another one not shown on the website. It's a silver hollow
sphere with small star–shaped cut–outs and within the hollow silver
sphere is a lit colorless crystal sphere. These should be fun to wear
for casual evenings out.
Oh, and since the tie–dyed tees were 50% off, I got two for only $15
each. They were good quality tees with my favorite type of neckline
(v–neck but not too deep) and they were so soft I knew they'd be
comfortable, I got one pink and one purple one. Both have heart–shaped
patterns tie–dyed into the front and back.

It is a gorgeous day here in the SF Bay Area. I wanted to go into the
city and shop but it tends to be a big ordeal so I stayed local and went
to Valley Fair mall instead.
The Limited:
Green blousy–fit tunic w/wide neckline. Reg $29.50, on sale for 17.70
White babydoll cami w/dot print in various shades of purple, green,

Had I realized stuff was so on sale, I would have tried on some more
things! I may go back on Tuesday.
Gap:
One purple and one brown bra–top cami (to go under above tops), Reg
$19.50 each, on sale for 2 for $20.

Went shopping in Santa Barbara today and ended up only buying things from
Nordstrom even though I went to all of my favorite stores. So here is what
I bought:
*super cute embellished jeans by "Too–She–She" with a mod
white/pink/green/black "bubble gum" print attached to the bottom and a light
pink shantung sash around the waist and the same pink shantung around the
bottom. The shantung is tied into a bow at the hem and put together with a
round sparkly rhinestone buckle. I could not resist!
*Callisto black bow slides
*Havaiana light tropical blue flip flops with pink and white hearts all over
(thanks for raving about this brand, Leilani!)
*Jacqua Girls Buttercream Frosting body cream – the item I've wanted for
like the last 6 months!! For some reason I never got around to ordering it
online and wasn't able to find it at any store until today. (Sephora was
sold out of it last time I was there.)
*Philosophy Crumb Berry Pie shower gel. I have not heard of this one, and
it's delicious...great for springtime. It's both fruity and foody scented!

Laurie, I hope you love the Havaianas as much as I do! My two new pairs
(black and bubblegum) arrived this past week and I spent the weekend
traipsing around in them. The cool thing was that either Lucky or Shop Etc.
had a feature on flip flops and they showed a pair of the bubblegum pink
Havaianas adorned with Swarovski flowers (pink and silver) on the thong
area. It was SO cute! Unfortunately, they were selling them for $80 or so.
I think I'm inspired enough to actually try and do this myself!

A "Cats Rule" magnet for my sister from the local hospital gift shop
Hello Kitty Birthday card for sister (from Tarzhay)
The book "My Husband Betty" by Betty Boyd (ordered direct from author)
From Electronics Boutique
The Playstation 2 game Katamari Damacy as a gift for a friend. The
game should be the "mascot game" for AF because it's all about
collecting as much stuff as possible, by rolling over it.
Final Fantasy XI Online Atlas MMORPG's are quite a bit like AF.
From K–Mart
A cute light pink belt with silver grommets
A bag for my new digital camera
A large pink and white terry tote because I needed a tote and it
looked cute. It's also got a cute little pink thong sandal on a
keychain with it.

For you girls that bought havaianas, how does the sizing run? I'm a
6/6.5 and I'm not sure if I should get the 35/36 and risk have my heels
hanging off, or the 37/38 and have them be too big.
Thanks,
Luna

Laurie, I hope you love the Havaianas as much as I do! My two new pairs
(black and bubblegum) arrived this past week and I spent the weekend
traipsing around in them. The cool thing was that either Lucky or Shop Etc.
had a feature on flip flops and they showed a pair of the bubblegum pink
Havaianas adorned with Swarovski flowers (pink and silver) on the thong
area. It was SO cute! Unfortunately, they were selling them for $80 or so.
I think I'm inspired enough to actually try and do this myself!

I was tempted to shop online after receiving a GAP sale reminder this
morning in my email, but instead, I bopped over to the mall and picked
up the following:

website)
this little green smocked thingy, which looks so good with jeans
http://tinyurl.com/8dptd
and a black vneck t–shirt that has ties at the shoulders (v front &
back)
and about 6 amazing striped long sleeved shirts in various shades for
DH – they were $6.97 each and Nordstrom's men's department was filled
with them at steep prices – so I'm thrilled...
9 shirts & a pair of boxers for $96. feeling smug,

Hi there!
I read a lot about how these run large, but I am the same size as you
(6–6.5) and bought the size 6. According to their site and what's actually
printed on the slipper, US 6=37/38. I also tried the next smallest size,
and didn't like the way they looked or felt.
Hope this helps!

I must get some of those charms! I love knowing I am not the only
30–something who loves HK :–)
satchel? I just got the cutest HK satchel from TJ Maxx, I usually hate
going there but I finally got lucky.
My sister bought me this book, it's in my car right now, I think it's
the same but it's by Heather or Helen Boyd. Maybe it's a different book.

Yes it is Helen Boyd, that's the second time I've messed that up. Good
book.

I'm in the midst of a poncho craze... My latest acquisition is
the Blossom Poncho from Chico's. I absolutely love it!
http://www.chicos.com/store/productchoose.asp?PID=100029947
Ralph Lauren has similar one called the Crochet Charissa Shawl:

.... but I actually like Chico's version better. Plus it was much less
expensive when combined with my Chico's "50% off" coupon. Heh. I too am
feeling smug :–)

Actually yesterday, at Sephora:
Sephora tinted moisturizer
Sephora makeup base
Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream
Sephora hair cutting shears
samples of Juice enzyme mask, Z. Bigatti Impact mask and Z. Bigatti
Re–Storation cream
I was looking for a tinted moisturizer with SPF to wear this
summer––something I could apply in the car, without thinking. I
checked out the Stila, Paula Dorf (too shiny!), Bourjois, and Sephora
brands and thought the Sephora was the right price. I also liked the
makeup primer. I've never used primer before, but it looks light
reflecting, which the moisturizer is not, so I'm using the two in
combo, and it gives me the effect I like. I've heard raves about the
glossing cream, and since I straight iron my hair every day, I wanted
something moisturizing with shine. I originally was just going to get
the travel size (1 oz. for $8.50) but then I saw the 4 oz size for
$18.50 and I thought, why buy a 1 oz size for 8.50 when I can get 4x as
much at only twice the price? Then, at the counter, the SA suggested
the 7 oz size for $25. And at only 6.50 more, for almost twice as
much, I didn't pass it up! Ahhh, that's how they get you! But since
everyone raves about this, I'm sure I won't be disappointed, and I can
always swap it if it doesn't work.
I haven't been to Sephora in a while––it's not at a mall close to
me––so I spent a long time checking out everything. The new Aquolina
yogurt stuff looked cool, but unfortunately, the Apricot smelled awful.
The cherry was really tangy and delicious, but I've got an overload of
moisturizers right now, so I'm going to hold off. I managed to get a
few samples of masks, since I'm always trying to find something that
will make my skin look smoother. I almost bought a Murad 4–pack of
enzyme masks for $10 but I decided to give the samples a try before
buying anything else. They're getting a new Sephora at Mall of America
July 1, so I'm hoping it's bigger than the Ridgedale location, and
they'll have more lines. I'd love to see some Tarte or Shu
Uemura––something I can't buy anywhere else in town.
