Lapsed beauty rituals

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
I used to be very consistent about doing facial treatments at home and
taking care of my feet. I had the Astara masks and several others from
whosthefairest and I used one of them at least once a week. I used a
file on my feet and rubbed cream all over them. Then I stopped. Well,
tonight I pulled out a sample of the La Mer refining facial. It's
minty, feels tight and then makes the skin smooth. I also used a Sisley
scrub after my usual Lancome cleanser. Now I plan to file the rough
spots on my feet with the Diamacel. I understand there is a microplane
for feet that is absolutely marvelous. Does anyone here have one?
What are your beauty treatments above and beyond daily cleansing? What
products do you use?

My extra treatments are very similar to yours. In winter, I'd
probably slough off on the foot care if not for having to expose my
feet in Pilates class. I use a Diamancel file once or twice a week,
and apply DDF foot cream once or twice a week at night.
I haven't used a mask in ages, but recently got a DHC catalog with a
mineral mask sample and tried it on a whim. It didn't dry out my skin
like other clay masks, took only 5 minutes, and I really liked the
results. I think it will be good for humid weather and am going to
order some. (For anyone else who got this catalog, the white sunblock
sample is worth trying if you like titanium dioxide/zinc oxide type
sunblocks. It has a nice, non–greasy texture.)
A couple months ago I pulled out a sample pot of Darphin aromatic
purifying balm and started using it instead of moisturizer on my face
before my early Monday morning Pilates class. The scent somehow helps
me wake up yet feel soothed, and it softens and smooths my skin. (I
never realized how much my beauty routines revolve around Pilates
class. Pilates itself is probably the most effective beauty treatment
I do!) Although the balm costs $75 I'll probably buy some when the
sample runs out, but I've only used half my sample, this stuff goes
far.
My only other routine is to moisturize my arms and legs after showering
with a rotation of products. I use DDF 12% glycolic lotion twice a
week, aloe gel from the health food store twice a week, and lately have
been loving eskander jojoba and olive oil body milk lotion. I like the
body milk because it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling
moisturized rather than slathered with lotion.

thanks for reminding me to get back into the steam facials – no
chemical concoction in bottle nor jar can equal thatclean skin feeling.
I steam, then use cleanser, then steam again. I add Swiss Kriss to the
water (that's an herbal preparation you can find in health food
stores).

I'm like you, Audrey. I used to be much more religious with the beauty
rituals (exfoliating feet, doing masks, applying eye cream nightly), but for
some reason I haven't been as diligent. I think most of the time, I'm just
pooped from the day and just want to take my shower and hit the sack.
Reading this thread has encouraged me to "get back on the wagon"!
Leilani
who still religiously washes her face every night before sleep, and applies
sunscreen in the morning :)

Yes, same here, down to the sunscreen every day. I still remember to
exfoliate at least once a week or so (usually in the shower) but I
haven't been nearly as diligent about serums, eye creams, etc. My skin
doesn't seem to be suffering but I really used to enjoy my skin care
rituals. Maybe I should try doing it earlier in the evneing when I can.

I used to shave but now waxing makes that not necessary. Also have to
give myself emergency pedicures sometimes but I really love having it
done more!
once a week:
Mask for face (currently rotate between REN enzyme masks or the Dr
Hauschka revitalizing one). Also really enjoy the Eve Lom Rescue Mask
but I'm trying to be a bit more frugal and finish things up before
buying more.
I also love using the Estee Lauder Rescue Eye Masks for the undereye
area and try to use them once a week as well.
Neutrogena has a Facial peel that I got in the States that does
wonderful things but I tend to save that for "special occasions"
