Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale
Anchor stores: Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Robinson–Mays and
Dillards. Many other nice shops throughout the mall also.
Desert Ridge Marketplace: all outside stores, a lot of restaurants,
visit the DFW shoe warehouse for a great selection of sandals
The Heard Musuem is an interesting place to visit, and their gift shop
is quite nice
Old Town Scottsdale (off Scottsdale Road and in that area of the mall)
has a lot of connected shops selling jewelry, pottery, t–shirts,
galleries with beautiful art work and sculptures
Also in Tempe, around ASU, there are a lot of nice shops that cater to
the college age crowd (not knowing what your age is)
Fave places for dining:
lunch at Arcadia Farms in Scottsdale
Old Town Tortilla Factory, 6910 E. Main St. in Scottsdale, indoor and
outdoor dining, open 7 days. Great margaritas.
Banderas – on Scottsdale Road, great rotisserie chicken
The Roaring Fork (more expensive dining)
Tarbells
La Hacienda at the Fairmount Scottsdale PRincess. Expensive gourmet
Mexican. They also have a wonderful Spa there.
In Sedona: Shugrues Hillside restaurant with awesome red rock views
Stop in Nordstroms and near the shoe dept. there is a concierge who can
give you the Phoenix/Scottsdale touring book with maps and restaurant
recommendations and locations. She may also have a touring book on
Sedona too. And then shop the shoe department in Nordstroms!
Enjoy.
Dress casually and wear light clothing, the temperatures are already
soaring and the forecast for this Sunday is 110.

Carol: What's the name of that outdoor artsy shopping center before
you actually get to Sedona? It's to your left as soon as you turn
off. Anyway, there's a nice bistro there, and a lot of nice little
shops, but I thought they were overpriced. It's worth stopping
before you get the main drag of Sedona, what a sight that
area is!

I googled this to make sure my spelling was correct:
Tlaquepaque
336 Highway 179 =B7 Sedona AZ
Shops Open Daily 10a.m. – 5p.m.
Restaurant Hours Vary
Closed Christmas and Thanksgiving
Great shops in here! A Christmas shop where you can purchase
decorative Southwest ornaments, nice galleries, clothing, a cute
bookstore, kitchen store with Southwestern edible goodies, a fun shop
with a lot of decorative Mary Frances and other handbags and great
jewelry, lots to choose from in Tlaquepaque. Much nicer than the
typical touristy–type shops elsewhere.

Thank you Carol, I would recommend this, there are a lot of nice
place to eat here, nicer than Sedona proper if I recall correctly!
Actually, there was a shop there with pretty good prices on
silver jewelry.

Also, probably not worth going out of your way, but Sun City Grand
has a very, very good BBQ place (don't recall the name, but how
many can there be there fergawdssake?) and I am a tough sell for
BBQ. Anyway, check out that shopping place that Carol recommended
and that I won't even begin to try and spell.

I'll second Carol's recommendation of the Heard Museum. Great,
authetic exhibits about local native americans, part of it is in an old
adobe building.
If you are interested in architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright's workshop
and home, Tallesian west is in the Phoenix area. The Biltmore hotel in
Phoenix is a Wright project and tours are available. The Norton art
museum on the campus of ASU is housed in a modern building made to be a
good match for the climate, with thick, cool walls. The main Phoenix
public library is a facinating building with a good Arizona collection.
I like restaurant Mexico for the green enchiladas and House of Tricks
for its lovely atmosphere and perfect food <www.houseoftricks.com>.
Both of these are near ASU in the downtown neighborhood to the north of
campus.
www.azcentral.com has lots of info about all kinds of things to do. I
think they have info on good hikes (go early in the morning). South
Mountain park is 16,000 acres and the largest municipal park in the US.
If you really want to waste your vacation in a mall... Arizona Mills
in south Tempe has an IMAX theater and a very fancy video game place.
They also have outlet stores from places such as Saks 5th ave.
Have fun!
