OT: Television Fall Season

"Parakeet" <s...@uce.gov>
As some of you know I work in Television production, I am getting the
final season listings for the *new* 2006 season.
Is there any interest, if they are clearly marked at OT, of me posting
them here. It would probably be ABC/NBC/CBS/UPN/FOX and The WB.
Again, I would clearly mark the posts as OT.
Actually I could respond to this post, so filters could be set with
this title incase the OT falls off as some newsreaders have been known
to do.

HBO may not announce this week, but if I get it and I don't see an
overwhelming "no" vote here I'll post it along.
Here's an OT question? Why do I continue to pay for HBO? The great new
shows seem fewer and farther between so I rarely look at it.

I wonder why anybody pays for cable. I've never had it, never will. I
get it at work as part of my job {I work in TV news and have several TVs
on my desk) but I rarely watch it. I also see it when on business trips
or on vacation in hotel rooms. I flip through 100 channels, amazed that
it's just as bad as the 15 or so channels I get at home and that anybody
actually pays for it, AND most of it has commercials even though you pay
for it!
Cable TV....one of the great scam rip–offs of modern times.

Here's an OT question? Why do I continue to pay for HBO? The great new

I canceled it a few months back. There just isn't anything on that I'm
interested in right now and it's expensive! I'll re–up for The Sopranos, but
that won't be for a while.

I've heard that the ratings weren't high enough
to sustain the
tremendous expense of filming another season.
It allegedly was the most
expensive TV series ever made. :(

It's good to know HBO isn't going to let a little
thing like canceling the series stand in the way of
hawkin the goods associated with it.
May–be it's how they plan on recouping all
that [lost] money... ; ))

I wonder why it was so expensive to film. The special effects were
minimal and the scenery seemed to be mostly a lot of dust, rocks and
rickety old trucks!

There were a lot of special effects if you think about it.

I'm cancelling it today for the same reason. My comcast bill is $150 a
month because it's our tv cable and Internet service provider.
Mine was about the same (also Comcast). I lowered my service down to the
lowest level of digital and my total bill is now $109 for internet and
digital cable.
It's one of those things that you mean to do for several months then one day
you get a bill and *really* look at it.

Maybe I will start "The Wire", I saw it once and liked it.
I'd watch "The Wire" just to see Dominic West; I keep watching because
the writers get a lot right about the bureacracy of law enforcement.
Great show.
