Current shoe obsessions

Stacy <stac...@stacyef.net>
It seems like this year is a big one for embellished summer sandals.
I've been jonesing for some with beads/sequins/rhinestones but so far,
either nothing is quite what I want (not that I know what that would be)
or they're far too overpriced for what they are. I'm not paying $600 for
sandals with no apparent arch support that will probably be
uncomfortable (and too trendy to be worth the investment). But then I
ran across these on the NM site. No beads or sequins but calla lilies
are my favorite flower and these sandals are calling my name:
http://tinyurl.com/9n67r
It's going to be tough but I'll resist ordering them. They do look far
too flat and hard, not to mention the narrow ankle strap (those usually
bother me, assuming I can buckle the strap to begin with, because my
achilles tendons stick out quite a bit.) If I see them in the store, of
course, I'll be trying them on, just in case :)

This is quite an amazing sandal. They don't appear very comfortable,
but if I think if I owned them, I'd probably just leave them out to
admire anyway!

They do have some cushioning in them, according to the C&C site.
I've been combing eBay but so far no joy. I've only been looking for
size 10 though.

Those are both beautiful pairs of sandals. Perhaps the $350 ones would
be uncomfortable. These are the ones I ordered from Nordstrom. They are
on a backorder until June but I wear sandals until the end of October so
I can wait.

It seems like this year is a big one for embellished summer sandals.
OTOH comfort is "in" too, I think. They are making a lot of cute sandals
that are not so "birkenstock–y" (not that there is anything wrong with
Birks!). I ended up shelling out $108 for a pair of black SAS TriPad
Comfort sandals and they are wonderful. They're both dressy and casual. I,
too, would love to wear something with beads/sequins/etc but with no arch
support or comfort...I have to say that blisters are definitely not "in."
I'm starting to buy one quality product for each season in shoes. I've got
the genuine Uggs for winter (useful in MN!), the SAS for summertime, and now
I need a good walking shoe that is not a tennis shoe type of shoe. Budget
is about $100 (which is small compared to alot of AF'ers perhaps), but I
have hope!! Just had to add my 2 cents worth, hope I've not offended
anyone. :–)

SAS TriPad Comfort sandals and they are wonderful. They're both
dressy and casual. I, too, would love to wear something with
beads/sequins/etc but with no arch support or comfort...I have to say
that blisters are definitely not "in." I'm starting to buy one quality
product for each season in shoes. I've got the genuine Uggs for
winter (useful in MN!), the SAS for summertime, and now I need a good
walking shoe that is not a tennis shoe type of shoe. Budget is about
$100 (which is small compared to alot of AF'ers perhaps), but I have
hope!! Just had to add my 2 cents worth, hope I've not offended
anyone. :–)

OTOH comfort is "in" too, I think. They are making a lot of cute
sandals that are not so "birkenstock–y" (not that there is anything
wrong with Birks!). I ended up shelling out $108 for a pair of black

Here is a possibility:

I recently got a pair and really like them. They have the comfort of
an athletic shoe, can take damp weather, let my feet breathe, and come
in half sizes!
If you mean walking shoes as in walking for fitness or hiking, I have
to say that these shoes don't provide as much ankle support as my
walking/hiking shoes that look like athletic shoes. But for a day that
involves lots of casual walking like shopping or sightseeing, they're
ideal.

These are over your budget, but if they go on sale, try them out:

I got them in black before my trip and I wore them everywhere. Most
comfortable sandal I've ever owned. Nike technology in the heel – you
can walk in them forever. And the style is pretty classic. I justified
the price because they are well made, timeless, and I will probably get
several years out of them (cheaper sandals typically only last me one
season).
I also really liked these, but I had to choose only one pair so had to

I have a great pair of SAS sandals already, so actually no, I was referring
to a pair of casual (okay, don't think "old lady") type shoes, maybe tan or
black. The kind with thin laces, but yet not tennis shoes. Am I being too
confusing here? LOL Kind of like the Easy Spirits I had but I wore them out
rather quickly, esp for the price of them. I don't want them to look "beat
up" looking. Doc Martens are out coz I had 2 pairs and they hurt my feet.
I have really flat feet too and they are pretty wide, but not extreme. I've
got a pair of Minnetonka Mocs but they just aren't what I was hoping they
would be, plus a pair of MJ's that just aren't comfortable either. I want
something with a lot of cushion, yet that won't give me blisters on the arch
or the heel. Gee, I don't ask much, do I? Especially for around $100. ;–)

I wear sneakers for exercise. I am wearing these because I just returned
from a morning walk. http://tinyurl.com/8y6wp I will change to sandals
when I leave home just as I change from my walking clothes. The Nike
technology has added a lot of extra support to Cole Haan shoes. The
traditional Margie loafer now has a cushioned insole. You can justify
the expense because you will not have to throw away your sandals at the
end of the season and the styles are such that they are not dated by
season.

You can justify
the expense because you will not have to throw away your sandals at the
end of the season and the styles are such that they are not dated by
season.

lol Thanks for your info though!
I gotcha. I think we're in pursuit of the same footwear. I have been
weaning myself off of high heels and my back has been thanking me. It
all started when my DF challenged me last year: every time I buy a pair
of heels, I should *also* treat myself to a pair of flats. (Can you see
why I'm marrying this guy?? He enables my shopping addiction, LOL!). As
a result, I've expanded my wardrobe of flat shoes and now find I'm
wearing them more often than heels. Yeah!
For my trip this spring I also bought a pair of stone–colored suede
loafers by Aerosoles. These are incredibly comfy with lots of
cushioning. No blisters. And *not* old lady.
We did a ton of walking on the trip, and my three shoes that I brought
included the Cole Haan sandals, the Aerosole loafers, and a pair of
funky pink Nine West sneakers. No blisters and my feet were quite happy
with no complaints!
Even if it's over your budget, still check out the Cole Haan's if you
find a sale. They have styles other than sandals, too.
