speaking of denim

"Stevie" <privilegemagaz...@charter.net>
omg..... I think I am about to go cross–eyed.. I have been researching
denim now for about 2 months–– talking to lines/designers/retailers about
the fit and what is a good fit for certain body types. I have found *new*
brands, new styles, new presentations... and I haven't hit all of the
lines..... but I have covered more than 20 brands and 25 styles.
I think I have just about every body type covered.––long and short legged,
those with butts, those with stomachs, those with hips and smaller waists;
those with no waist
it's been a real education.. I never knew that you could actually make a
rigid denim do what you want. Did you know there is a genuine vegetable dye
indigo? (mucho $$$)
I learned about yokes and no yokes (and no yoking about it) (sorry.
couldn't resist)
contoured and non contoured waistbands, rigid vs stretch vs 1%, !.5%, 2%
and 3%..
I learned about the break and also the comparison of the break to the leg
opening and what happens if you cut too much off.
button vs zipper fly.....
new brands
brands reinventing themselves
new styles
new colors, textures and presentations
some for even less than 50 dollars!
like I said, it's been an education... I have 3 more articles to write on
this and the first one is almost done (one more section to go) and then I
will be done.. as in toast!

I hope that I can read it and hope that you found something for a short
legged, low rised(raised?), size 8 waisted, size 10 hipped, size 12
thighed, flat stomached, and big butted woman! I think that covers
everything.

Hi Stevie, I'd love to read the articles as well. Please post links or
print sources. Congratulations on all that work!! But now, you're AF's
denim expert and we won't give you a moment's peace :) So, what do you
recommend for Pattymac? Because her description sounded a lot like mine
would.

I wil lhave 2 online resources for the article.. maybe 3.. I will post the
links as they go up.. one will be fashiontribes.com
if you haven't registered to get the email when they post new articles, go
do that. it's easier/better than checking back so often though the site is
adorable and there is a lot to read..
also I will have pdfs everntually for the new West Hollywood magazine that
will get a version and sections of this will be in another LA magazine..
I truly have learned a lot. I was just on the phone with two different denim
companies and we were talking about the difference of fit between rigid
(straight cotton) and stretch (with some sort of lycra)
I have found sizes are all over the place.... and I have tried on honestly
so many different pairs of jeans.
why not email me and tell me your body type, height and ball park the
dollar limit. don't want to recommend something horribly expensve if you are
looking fr 80 or less. and I do have a GREAT pair of jeans for 40 bucks if
you can get into a junior size.. I did and was AMAZED at the really nice
fit.
