What I bought in Hawaii

Laurie0512 <laurie0...@earthlink.net>
I just got back from a wonderful week in Kauai (stayed in the Princeville
area, but saw other parts of the Island too). It was gorgeous there and the
nice breeze kept me from feeling too hot. This was my second visit to Kauai
and my fourth visit to the state overall. I'll be going to Hawaii more
often (well, once a year or once every two years or so) because my fiance's
aunt and uncle own a house in Princeville and we can stay there pretty
inexpensively. I didn't do a whole lot of shopping, but ended up buying
some nice things.
*light pink mother of pearl teardrop earrings
*light pink freshwater stud and drop earrings
*freshwater black pearl drops. Now I sooooo want a real Tahitian black
pearl necklace. I have been lusting after one ever since I saw this $10,000
strand at this shop called the Black Pearl.) Maybe a black pearl drop will
do for awhile though....maybe on my next trip to Hawaii I'll aquire one....
*black Kukui bead necklace (a short strand) – these are trendy now!
*black Cobian platform flipflops. Cobians are my absolute fave flip
flops....I have two flat pairs (one of which I've totally worn out) and this
is my first platform pair.
*deep pink cap sleeve tee with outlined tropical flowers from CrazyShirt in
Poipu Beach.
*melon orange tee with a deep pink glittery butterfly and "Kauai" printed on
the front and a deep pink ribbon bow on the upper sleeve/neckline
*from a great store at LAX called LAEdge (similar stuff Kitson in LA on
Robertson Blvd. would carry)....a medium shade pink tee with "Chai
Maintenance" and a Hebrew Chai symbol printed on front. It's from a brand
called Rye. (www.ryeclothing.com). I couldn't resist!
Laurie
who had a great time, but is now jetlagged and going to sleep early tonight!

I love staying in Poipu personally but love Princeville and Hanalei area
too. It's quainter and nicer than Poipu which is over built..
I think the next time you are there, check out the jewelry stands at the
blow hole west of Koloa and check out black pearls there. I have bought
several items there in my many trips there and *never* been sorry. The
quality is excellent and I got amazing pearls!

Stevie, are you talking about the jewelry stands at the Spouting Horn? That
is where I got the two sets of pearl earrings for $10 total (freshwater pink
and black pearl drops). They have great deals there and I wish I had more
time to look at the other jewelry in depth. I looked for a black pearl
necklace for cheap there, but nothing is nice as the authentic Tahitian
super expensive pearls...sigh. Also wish I got a long strand Kukui nut
necklace since it looks so cute on Jessica Simpson. I'm kicking myself that
I didn't get a Kukui nut bracelet either, but I'm enjoying the short
necklace for now. I agree with you on Poipu Beach (stayed there last time I
was in Kauai)...there is more to do there (looove the Hyatt and the
lagoons), but it's more touristy and crowded than the North Shore
(Princeville and Hanalei). I can't wait to go back to Hawaii! Besides the
shopping, the snorkeling at the Princeville Hotel beach and dining at great
restaurants (such as the Hanalei Dolphin) were favorites during the stay.

*** I have a specific vendor that I go to where I can get real tahitian
pearls including black pearls. I ended up last time going 2–3 x to that
stand (over the week) to get the deal I wanted and spend the time picking
out what I wanted.
Also wish I got a long strand Kukui nut

**** agreed. I love to do regular people shopping at the Coconut Coast and
that mall.. though it's very touristy. big fan of bubba burger right there
on the highway.. it's not the same as the one in hanalei (which isn't very
good)
love that clothing store in hanalei in the old school house building. very
cool things there
it's much slower pace there..
we go out to the lighthouse area and there is a FABULOUS clothing store
where the guy does hand batik prints.. they were featured in 2 different tv
shows.. I have bought 4 shirts for the SO from him. GREAT deals!! great one
of a kind prints
I can't wait to go back to Hawaii! Besides the

Laurie, if you want to email with specifics on that kukui nut jewelry I
can get for you in October.
We have a timeshare at Hanalei Bay Resort and I can search for you
while there. Do they sell these everywhere because we may not be at the
Spouting Horn, but if this type of jewelry is available I will be glad
to help you out. I love the little shops in Hanalei and I love the
small Catholic Church there.
The view from the dining terrace of the Princeville Resort is
outstanding, I could sit there for hours gazing out.
My favorite piece of jewelry is a gold ring with a large black pearl
and some small diamonds that I bought at the Kona Jewelry store in Kona
on the big island a few years back.

"Stevie" <privilegemagaz...@charter.net>
Stevie, are you talking about the jewelry stands at the Spouting Horn?
**Yes!
That
is where I got the two sets of pearl earrings for $10 total (freshwater
pink
and black pearl drops). They have great deals there and I wish I had more
time to look at the other jewelry in depth. I looked for a black pearl
necklace for cheap there, but nothing is nice as the authentic Tahitian
super expensive pearls...sigh.
*** I have a specific vendor that I go to where I can get real tahitian
pearls including black pearls. I ended up last time going 2–3 x to that
stand (over the week) to get the deal I wanted and spend the time picking
out what I wanted.
Also wish I got a long strand Kukui nut
necklace since it looks so cute on Jessica Simpson. I'm kicking myself
that
I didn't get a Kukui nut bracelet either, but I'm enjoying the short
necklace for now.
t*** totally cool look!
I agree with you on Poipu Beach (stayed there last time I
was in Kauai)...there is more to do there (looove the Hyatt and the
lagoons), but it's more touristy and crowded than the North Shore
(Princeville and Hanalei).
**** agreed. I love to do regular people shopping at the Coconut Coast and
that mall.. though it's very touristy. big fan of bubba burger right there
on the highway.. it's not the same as the one in hanalei (which isn't very
good)
love that clothing store in hanalei in the old school house building. very
cool things there
it's much slower pace there..
we go out to the lighthouse area and there is a FABULOUS clothing store
where the guy does hand batik prints.. they were featured in 2 different tv
shows.. I have bought 4 shirts for the SO from him. GREAT deals!! great one
of a kind prints
I can't wait to go back to Hawaii! Besides the
shopping, the snorkeling at the Princeville Hotel beach and dining at
great
restaurants (such as the Hanalei Dolphin) were favorites during the stay.
** do you ever hit the beach house?? that's soooooo romantic during a full
moon!

fiance's
aunt and uncle own a house in Princeville and we can stay there pretty
inexpensively. I didn't do a whole lot of shopping, but ended up buying
some nice things.
*light pink mother of pearl teardrop earrings
*light pink freshwater stud and drop earrings
*freshwater black pearl drops. Now I sooooo want a real Tahitian black
pearl necklace. I have been lusting after one ever since I saw this
$10,000
strand at this shop called the Black Pearl.) Maybe a black pearl drop
will
do for awhile though....maybe on my next trip to Hawaii I'll aquire
one....
*black Kukui bead necklace (a short strand) – these are trendy now!
*black Cobian platform flipflops. Cobians are my absolute fave flip
flops....I have two flat pairs (one of which I've totally worn out) and
this
is my first platform pair.
*deep pink cap sleeve tee with outlined tropical flowers from CrazyShirt
in
Poipu Beach.
*melon orange tee with a deep pink glittery butterfly and "Kauai" printed
on
the front and a deep pink ribbon bow on the upper sleeve/neckline
*from a great store at LAX called LAEdge (similar stuff Kitson in LA on

I just got back from a wonderful week in Kauai (stayed in the Princeville
area, but saw other parts of the Island too). It was gorgeous there and
the
nice breeze kept me from feeling too hot. This was my second visit to
Kauai
and my fourth visit to the state overall. I'll be going to Hawaii more
often (well, once a year or once every two years or so) because my
fiance's
aunt and uncle own a house in Princeville and we can stay there pretty
inexpensively. I didn't do a whole lot of shopping, but ended up buying
some nice things.

That's great, Laurie! You'll get a real opportunity to get to know the
island, which is very beautiful. (I have to admit, though, that my purchases
on Kauai have mostly been limited to fruit smoothies and other food as we
tend to do outdoorsy stuff there and I never think to shop.) I didn't
realize kukui nut necklaces were trendy. Kukui brings good luck, you know :)
