? about lip liner

genileuq...@aol.com
Has anyone tried the new lip liners that are made for lip gloss? There
was an article about this in April's Lucky. Stila and Cover Girl are
two brands mentioned. Sephora does have the Stila liners on their
website, and I suppose in their stores as well. I love lip gloss, but
hate how it disappears so quickly. Would appreciate any comments!!

I got the Stila pink glaze lip liner and like it. It's creamier than
regular lip liners. When I wear gloss with this liner my lips look
defined, rather than outlined. I really like the look, but it doesn't
perform any miracles in increasing the staying power of gloss.
To improve staying power, I think the best thing to do is try different
types of gloss. Pixi moisture tint glosses have good staying power for
me––these are shiny and transparent but well–pigmented pot glosses
(available at Sephora and the Pixi Beauty web site). Pixi claims their
lip lacquers (in tube) are long–lasting, but I haven't tried them.

I use lip liner from all sorts of manufacturers with different brand
lip glosses. For example, I have 3 MAC lip liners, one of which is
used with Urban Decay lip gloss, one of which is used with Neutrogena
lipgloss, and okay, the third one is purple to go with the Cyber
lipstick.
I haven't tried any of the special lip liners for glosess, because I
don't think they're necessary or work any better than the old system
I've been using. Read on for more if you're interested.
I find there's a lot of room to mix and match, and drugstore works as
well as department store. Beware: lip liners can be drying. I put
moisturizer on my lips (the same which is used for my face) prior to
applying lip liner.
A note on technique: I apply the lipgloss *first*, then the lip liner.
I do this for two reasons. One is that I have dry lips and need the
moisture for the liner to cover evenly. Second, some of the gloss
comes off on the lip liner. This is easily sharpened away, and
multiple glosses can be combined with multiple liners. If I apply the
liner first, *then* the gloss, then some of the liner color comes off
on the wand and is there to stay. It will later come off on my lips
when I use the gloss again, whether I want that effect or not.
