Comments on Maybelline DMM application

"Jamie" <zuschlag–sequ...@tds.net>
DH and I went on a date Saturday night and as I was getting ready to apply
my makeup, I reached for my holey (don't know the technical name of this)
sponge instead of my latex sponge for application. My gosh!! This thing
just forced that foundation into the pores on my nose! And then, almost no
amount of smoothing would cover that up! I was so shocked and almost wiped
clean and reapplied but didn't have time, so I just worked with what I had.
It's been a while since I used this sponge since I usually use the latex
one. I never use my fingers to apply foundation, although with Dream Matte
Mousse I do have to start it with my fingers to spread it out since it's
slightly lumpy. The finish I get when I do begin with my fingers is good
but I just can't do it. When I was growing up, I can remember seeing my mom
apply that nasty CG makeup that was too dark for her using her fingers and
hands, and it always looked like she was just stretching the skin on her
face mercilessly. I digress.
Today I applied the DMM with the foundation brush, which entailed smoothing
most of the foundation onto my face with my fingers and then just smoothing
it out. If you don't smooth it with fingers first, the little "mousse
lumps" just kind of fall into the sink, thus causing you to lose part of it.
When you use a sponge, it spreads all of this out. And I'm not inclined to
use the foundation brush on a regular basis because it usually takes me a
little longer to do. I guess if I used it regularly, then I'd become more
adept.
So, I know that we had a discussion not too long ago about using the
foundation brush. What are the quick tips that you find successful? And
could you please specify if you're using a light, medium, or full coverage
foundation. I use a sponge to ensure that my coverage is equal all the way
to my hairline. I can't get that fine application with the brush on the
periphery of my face.

I use a small brush to apply the DMM and then blend with a sponge.
