It's time to play dress the Royal Matron again

onmycue <onmy...@tds.net>
It looks like I'm going to have to do a second term as Royal Matron
(President) of my Amaranth Court, a Masonic organization. The
Installation of Officers will be mid–May. I am, of course, obsessing
over its being perfect for our new members who have yet to experience
one of my events :) So any perspective will be appreciated.
We've had Breakfast at Tiffany (mine) and full Scottish (DH), now I'm
thinking of something outdoorsy–maybe forest green and copper as
colors, trillium as the flower, moose and bear as mascots/fun emblems.
The reception would have s'mores makers on each table, with kind of a
campfire theme, maybe even a tent and camp chair set up in the corner.
(We work a Project CARE rest area every summer holiday weekend and I
get teased a lot about my very small, but dry and warm, tent. The only
other tent is *huge* and called "Taj Mahal"; mine is "Taj MaSmall".)
What do you think? I'll need to choose a dress, crown is being made
(sterling silver, copper, Isle Royal greenstone), music, watchwords,
scripture verse, and just set the overall theme for the year. The
ulterior motive is to be the complete antithesis of the pink dress I
have to wear for my statewide office. See:

Dress choices include (all forest/hunter green):

Thanks! And if anyone happens to be in Michigan in mid–May, it will be
in Flint and you're all invited.

I like the one right above my message the best, considering the theme. Have
to say it's hard to imagine anyone wearing it with a crown, though.

The crown is not large or flashy. It will sit fairly low, but not as
low as this year's. The band is a brightly–polished 3/4" wide sterling
silver channel, with 3/8" cast copper inset (probably design of
trilliums or leaves), with 7 graduating trilliums going up, the largest
being 1 1/2", smallest is 1/2". An Isle Royale greenstone is set in
the very center.

I love the first of the three dresses with the cutout neckline. I couldn't
see your "statewide office" dress.

It is icy pink lace, with silver glitter, enormous puffed sleeves,
huge, full skirt with a three tier crinoline, slightly basque waist,
high sweetheart neckline. Awful. If I were 4 years old and going to
church on Easter Sunday, I would think I was all that and a bag of
chips with my big pink dress, lacy ankle socks, patent leather shoes
and a hat with streamers down the back. Since I'm not and haven't been
for a *very* long time, it's just bad. At least it isn't the
hummingbird dress from a few years ago...
Now, when I'm queen of the world, the dresses will be simple and
tasteful and crinolines will be banished!
