refrigerator repairman butt question

jeff <je...@nyc.rr.com>
I know that this isn't a "fashion" question or statement, but in
recent years I find that my blue jeans tend to droop, even with a
belt. I pull them up but this is a very temporary remedy. Does this
suggest that the jeans are too large or small? Do you tend to buy the
same waist size for jeans as dress pants or a smaller size? Do
discount brands produce the drooping problem more than, say, Levi's?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what your body type is but I find with DH the problem is too
much belly and not enough butt. Well, relatively speaking, of course!
Some brands do droop more due to excessive stretching of the fabric. I can't
specifically name any off hand but trial and error will show you which ones
retain their shape better. The problem is that when you buy pants, they're
bought according to waist size, but for various reasons, including the
weight of the fabric and shape of your bod, they settle as the day goes on
and not even a belt can halt this. This brings to mind a recent question
that I've had regarding men's pants. I had DH try on and then buy a pair of
GAP low–waist jeans. He wasn't too sure at first, being 40–something and
not wanting his assets hanging out, but they looked fine and felt tolerable
for him. He agreed to try them. After wearing them a number of times, we
both remarked to each other that the low–rise hit his lower waist at exactly
the same spot that his other pants settle into after a long day. So, the
question is this. Should we keep buying these pants according to his normal
waist size (38) or try a lower size (36) to see if they work even better?
Hmmmm?

Going with a fit that is snugger fit below the waist will emphasize
just how much belly he has acquired. That's not a good look, even if
it is a good fit.

maybe suspenders are warranted?

Nah, his tummy's not that big and it's not like you can see his rear – you
can't. They just always seem to inch down enough so that he has to hitch
them up. But I do understand about the smaller fit emphasizing his tummy.
I wasn't really thinking that downsizing would be an issue – but really
wondering.
Thanks for the input!
