Acne Gel from Mary Kay?

Lisa Slavik <l...@beautycafe.com>
We had blondie's physical today....besides needing new glasses, she
passed with flying colors...woo hoo...however, her Doctor made a couple
of suggestions for acne products...one of which was from Mary Kay. Not
sure if it was some kind of sell on her part because trust me here in
Dallas, MK is huge...but since we've tried just about everything
else...wondering if anyone has any experience with the acne products in
the MK line.

New glasses as in "replacement" or "new for the first time?"
If they're "new for the first time" hopefully she'll figure out all
the popular kids wear glasses.

In my experience with it, dermatological stuff can all be lumped
together by the active ingredient.

Actually Charlie these would be for replacement glasses...her
Pediatrician says she needs to be wearing the glasses all the time. We
may opt for contact lenses this time around but we'll have to see. I'm
not an Eye specialist and she appears to have astigmatism (sp?). She
told her doctor yesterday that the glasses make everything look funny
when she walks...so obviously the last set were not the right ones for her.

I don't know anything about the MK acne products. But after many
visits to dermatolotgists and several prescription medications, my
teenager has had best results with a simple combo of two drugstore OTC
products –– the brand is Clean and Clear. We found the details about
this combination on another web forum at acne.org. It's referred to
there as "botchla's regimen". If you can't find it there but are
interested in the details, let me know and I'd be happy to post.
Re the glasses vs. contacts, contacts do not fully correct astigmatism
–– your optahmologist or optician will know whether they would be
appropriate given your DD's prescription. I opted for the lesser
correction of contacts when I was young purely out of vanity –– now
that I'm older I still prefer them because they correct peripheral
vision. To me, especially when driving, that outweighs the slight
undercorrection.
Best,
Dix
P.S. Sorry to sound like such a know–it–all, especially in my first
post on AF. You just happened to bring up two issues I've had recent
experience with. When it comes to make–up and beauty products, I'm
basically clueless –– that's why I'm here.

Thank you for both of your suggestions...I do appreciate it and yes you
can email me privately if you like regarding the combo...any help at
this point is greatly appreciated.
We'll be looking into contacts for both of us I suppose...we both have
the astigmatism. I hate driving at night especially on the 2 lane
country roads we have out here...I have something on my glasses that is
supposed to fight off the glare but it really doesn't work all that
well. I'm terrified of laser and I've heard that there are mixed reviews
when you have astigmastism.

i also have had trouble with "night blindness" at times, and for
