TV show "The L Word" and style

heidida...@hotmail.com
I have been watching last season's "The L Word", a series on Showtime,
which
is kind of a SATC only set in L.A. and about a circle of hip lesbians
(kind of
like the "power lesbians" episode of SATC gone wild).
I like the clothing style a lot – much more casual than SATC so more in
line with my own life – I can actually imagine wearing some of this
stuff
myself. A lot of V neck t's or Indian/peasant style blouses worn with
adramatic pendant on a cord. One character who is seen in a number of
beautiful
dramatic haltar style tops or dresses. I do miss Carrie's shoes
though! Anyway
this week's Cablevision TV Guide had an article about the show that
said they
are going to try to up the style quotient to be more like SATC in that
the
fashions themselves will be almost another character in the story. I
hope they
don't go too far with this.
The hairstyles however baffle me. As a suburban married lady I know I
am far,
far from the cutting edge of style. But 2 of the characters have cuts
that
go way out beyond "rats nest" – just jumbled tangles of all different
length
strands. And *not* in a cute "just got out of bed" way. I was shocked
to find
out in an episode that one of these characters is supposed to be a
hairstylist –
so I guess this is a hot look –– somewhere? anywhere? On the other
hand,
some of the other characters have very generic shoulder length hair in
no
particular style.
I don't know what I expected but something other than this apparently.
My own
hair is shoulder length, wavy and layered, and I am getting quite tired
of it
and looking for some inspiration and ideas. This show just scared me
though!
