Giorgio Armani 'makeover'

nos...@dccnet.com (Alexis)
I hadn't yet tried GA makeup, and it looked like a good opportunity to try
out the line when the Vancouver Giorgio Armani counter brought in makeup
artist Tim Quinn for their 'makeup event' a few days ago. I normally use
Chanel & Bobbi Brown.
I was very impressed with the products, and found Tim's technique
different from what I usually experience. His approach was so miminalist,
and I looked really good when he was done –– he spent about a half hour on
me, but it looked so natural yet really good.
I'm quite pale with a lot of red in my cheeks, dark brown hair & green
eyes. He used Pearl Veil primer all over, and that took out most of the
red. It also had a beautiful glow. He said I could leave it at that for
daytime. Then, he used Luminous Skin Silk foundation #3 just on my chin,
cheeks & sides of my forehead, no foundation in the middle of my face,
just the outsides. No concealer, no powder –– not much product, but it
looked really good.
He used cream blush #1 very high on my cheekbones –– not where I usually
put blush, and a darker & more neutral colour than I usually use (Nars
Deep Throat & BB Sand Pink & Chanel Secret).
Eyes – #11, a beautiful, silky taupe over a wash of #3. Then, dark green
pencil just at the lash line & a bit of mascara.
Lips – #19, sheer lipstick which reminded me of Vincent Longo Foolish Virgin.
I bought the Pearl Veil, foundation & eye shadows. (had to leave
something to buy next time!). I also didn't feel any pressure to buy
more, which was nice.
I've used the products & techniques for the last few days, and am very
happy with both.

Thanks for this great review! I had my first taste of GA when I went to SF
back in 2002 and the MA there used a *very* heavy hand. I was so
discouraged by the plastered look that she gave me that it was probably the
first time I ever walked away from a makeover without purchasing a single
product.
After reading so many great reviews on AF and on MUA, I decided to try it
out again and ended up with the powder foundation, which I dust on with a
powder brush as the final step to set my makeup. Been very very happy with
the quality, and will be checking out the counter again when I visit SF next
month.
