Studio Fix and Tech

"Carly" <cmarqui...@comcast.net>
I bought Studio Fix a month ago and found it too drying for my combo skin.
Now I am using Studio Tech but read reviews after purchasing that it was
"zits in a can", is this true? I have combo skin that breaks out about once
a month (around Aunt Flo), and I've been using it as a concealer mostly.
I was told at the MAC counter that Studio Fix shouldn't be used through out
the day, only once and then touched up with powder. Is this true, does it
cake or dry out your skin? Should I continue using my Studio Fix, but buy
the powder for my purse?
Thanks! Carly

That's a lot of questions! I use the Studio Fix and I do like you were
told at the MAC counter. I put the Studio Fix on in the morning (with
a big old timey shaving brush) and then for the rest of the day I touch
up with MAC Blot powder. I imagine if you touched up with the Studio
Fix you'd look caked on by the end of the day.
Obviously different foundations react differently on people's skin, but
I'd heard that Studio Fix breaks people out and the Studio Tech didn't.
I've used SF for several years without a problem, so I assume it's
just a case of YMMV.

I use StudioTech all the time and have no breakouts to report. I found
the StudioFix too heavy for me while the Studio Tech was less coverage
and didn't get all cakey. It holds up just fine for me with no touch ups
during the day.

Studio Fix is my favorite foundation ever. You need to moisturize
really well before using it and applying it with a powder brush helps to
keep the coverage light. And I ALWAYS use it for touch ups through the
day. And I'm not alone...Paris and Nicole use it for touch ups all the
time on Simple Life!

Seriously though, if you apply Studio Fix lightly with a powder brush
the coverage is light, beautiful, and flawless. Not cakey at all.

Since Studio Fix is a foundation, you were advised correctly at the MAC
counter. Any foundation, if applied repeatedly throughtout the day,
would cake/goop/collect in the creases, etc. As has been suggested,
applying it in the morning with a big fluffy powder brush may very well
provide all the coverage you need.
Although I use several different foundations in rotation, I always
carry Studio Fix with me for touchups (especially handy when you've
got a cold and keep blowing your nose throughout the day).

I stopped using Studio Fix in the fall but I still have a lot left. I always
used that sponge that came with so now I'm going to try the powder brush
technique. I agree you need to moisturize well beforehand.

I apply SF with the sponge in the areas I use it most (forehead, nose area,
a bit on the chin) and then blend outwards with a brush. This keeps the
application fairly light. I don't use SF for touch ups, I use blotting
sheets for the oilies.
I found ST too oily for my skin, so I never purchased it after being
provided with a sample.

I tried the powder brush technique last night for blondie as she got
ready for a dance and the coverage was perfect for her...I'm going to
give it another shot myself since I have a full one sitting around.
Thanks for the suggestion.
