did you try soda water poured directly over the stain as that part of the
sweater is stretched out?
also I would highly recommend doing a cold water wash by hand and soaking
it. take it to the dry cleaners too. I am so sorry. I feel your pain

Just hand wash the stain with soap (or laundry detergent) in luke
warm water. That should take care of it.

I'm working on removing balsamic vinegar stains from a white cotton blouse
with a touch of lycra in it. I'm using warm water and Shout. I'm trying a
few rounds of this. Any better ideas?

I was watching the test kitchen show and they were testing stain–outs
and the winner seemed to be Oxy Clean, it's worth a shot.
Good luck.

Have you tried Zout (not the same as Shout)? It's worked miracles for
me. I had a silk blouse with an old grease stain that the dry cleaner
couldn't remove; it came right out with Zout.
Also, the hottest water you think the blouse can withstand, poured
directly through the stain (don't need to soak it in hot water – just
put the stained part directly under the tap and let it flush through
the stain – turn inside out and flush through the stain from that
direction, too).
Finally, try drying it in sunlight. Sunlight works wonders on white
cotton and linen. If there is a ghost of a stain left, the sunlight
will bleach it out.
