Body Shop Hemp Hand Creme Rave

"Claire in SF" <clairi...@aol.com>
I recently began using The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector after having used
L'Occitane's shea butter hand creme for a long time and occasionally BBW
Hand Repair shea butter hand creme (the latter is no contest against the
L'Occitane btw). I love the Hemp Hand Proctor and can't say enough about how
it is a great protector, especially if you are handling a lot of paper or
fabric, or have to wash your hands frequently, all those things that dry out
your hands. It doesn't make your hands super greasy yet it lasts through
lots of activities including multiple hand washings.
It recently held up amazingly well during a lot of box and paper handling.
Imagine what your hands go through when you have to pack up all your stuff,
move , then unpack. I could never have imagined my hands would stay as
protected and not get dried out. If you are spending a lot of time around
fabrics, for example tearing apart and reorganizing your closet, sorting and
folding clothes at your service organization, or shopping and trying on a
lot of clothes or shoes, etc., this stuff will really protect your hands
from the fabric and paper that draw the oils off your skin.
The only downside is the patchouli–like fragrance. I don't know why The Body
Shop assumes that they have to stick with "the theme" (lol) in scenting this
product. Other hemp product companies venture out and add more typical
fragrances to their hemp products. (Check www.faceonline.com for more info
on other hemp companies.) I wish TBS would change this about the Hand
Protector. Still, its performance is so superior to other products I've
tried I'm willing to put up with the fragrance.

This sounds like a great product to me, too but I loathe patchouli. If one
wants to keep a hippie image going, wouldn't sandalwood still be in keeping
but would be less offensive to those of us whose Charlie and Virginia Slims
were competing with the clove cigarettes and patchouli of others so many
years ago? And others too, of course ; 0

I bought this about 2 years ago after the SA raved and raved about it.
It was such a great hand creme, especially in the winter, that I was
able to overlook the smell for awhile. It eventually got to me though,
it was really strong, and I ended up throwing it away. I've yet to
find a comparable hand creme but the smell ruined it for me.

And now for a different POV ...
I tried this some time ago, before the boycott of The Body Shop began.
I found it to be greasy. You certainly couldn't do paperwork right
after applying it, for example. Now, of course, I wouldn't buy
anything from TBS.
