Smaller sized tankinis?

Courtney <v...@nospam.invalid>
I'm beginning to pull my hair out again trying to find a two piece
tankini style swimsuit that will actually FIT.
I am looking for a tankini like this one –
http://store.nordstrom.com/product/product_brandboutique.asp?styleid=
2805621 . I really want that kind of coverage, not the ones that leave
the majority of the waist exposed. I'd also prefer it in darker colours
– black, dark grey, navy, nothing with loud prints or day glo pink.
Unfortunately, apparently people my size apparently don't swim. I have
about a 34" bust, 23" waist, 34" hips.
I've found tiny string bikinis in measurements more fitting to mine, but
can't find a single tankini that will not fall off my hips or will just
float around inches of space at my waist.
I've looked at girls sizes and can't find anything that works due to my
height (5'6") and to the colour choices and styles, which all seem to
scream "childrens section". The places for teens I've checked have xs
swimsuits, but I've yet to see one actual solid decent coverage tankini.
Anyone have any ideas on where I might find a tankini that would fit?
TIA.
Courtney

Courtney,
Have you checked Land's End? I don't know how their XS's run but they do
have tankinis with decent coverage. You can actually mix and match tops and
bottoms with different leg openings. They also have recommendations for
suits to match certain body types and I have found that they work. Their
suits have been the most flattering and most true to description for me; my
last three suits, and a maternity suit, have come from there. Also their
colour choices are not "out there". Check out their sizing, though.
HTH,
Jamie

Unfortunately, they list their size 6 as 34" bust, 26" waist, and 36 1/2"
hips. But call their customer service anyway to see what they might advise
1–800–963–4816. Their customer service is the best!

Jcrew.com might work . . . .

They tend to run pretty big but it is worth a try.

Yeah, skip Land's End. Their XS's are huge on the hips.
Sorry I can't be of more help. I have the hardest time finding bathing
suits myself. I did find a tankini that fits your requirements last
year at Marshall's. Just totally lucked out. I hope it never wears out
on me. :–(

What about Patagonia/Water Girl?
"Trianna" <triannadun...@hotmail.com>
Why not try J. Crew? They have separates, including a longer tankini
top and hipster shorts, in solid colors and sizes as low as 2.
Nautica swimsuits come in size 4, I know, and may come in 2 as
well––they're available at all the Federated Department Stores stores,
and probably online somewhere. They have some nice tankinis this
season––there's a "piped halterkini" that comes in a dark cocoa.
If you don't want to invest too much $$ in something bought online, why
not try Newport News (www.newport–news.com)? They have some simple
tankinis in sizes 2 and 4.
Title XI sports has some very simple tankinis, but I think their
smallest size is 6.
Good luck!

Eddie Bauer has some tankini seperates, and from the look of their size
chart – http://tinyurl.com/5hd9h – a size 2 on the bottoms and a size 4
or 6 on the tops might fit you (the ones that come in the smaller sizes
seem to be down on the second half of the page).

<snip lots of helpful advice>
Unfortunately even placed with smaller suits like JCrew and Eddie Bauer
seem to only have the more coverage suits in sizes 6 and up.
I just don't understand it. I may be a 2, but I have a 2 year old and my
stomach isn't (and may never be) as firm and flat as I'd like it to be
to wear something where it is sticking out in the open. =) I *can't* be
the only one who has this problem. I'd like to think I'm not some freak
of nature.
At any rate, I did find something that I think may work at
http://www.northshoreswimwear.com . The "Tiffany" tankini top and one of
the full coverage bottoms. I just hate ordering from some place for the
first time. I'm overly cautious, I guess. =)

I may have missed all the responses so forgive me if this has been mentioned
already. How about Lands End? I've bought my tankinis from there. Good
coverage!
