looking for "generic"

i'm looking for GENERIC (as in cheaper) dr. scholls shoes.
this group was talking about them in 2004, and i would like to try
painting on a pair myself!
any help?

I bought a pair at K–Mart a couple of years ago that were fabulous (and I
think only $9.99). They are still going strong and I wore them all the way
through one of my summer pregnancies. Route 66? I think that was the
brand. Now that I think of it, there was one small difference between these
and Dr. Scholl's. DS had those squarish clip/buckles and these just had
regular roundish buckles. Not something that stood out. I love them and I
think if you can find them, they will fit your purpose well. I'm not sure
they're made of leather, though. That could make them hard to paint. And I
know the heels were synthetic.

I used to own the classic Dr Scholl's wood shoes and they made my legs
look nice and slim. However the wood surface really did a number on
the soles of my feet, making them really hard in no time! I stopped
wearing them because of that.
