Handbag/shoe hoarders: How do you know what you have?

Hi,
I have amassed quite a collection of shoes and clothes and I no longer
know or remember all the stuff I have. I was wondering how you deal
with this, particularly if your handbags are stored in dustbags, and
your shoes put away in boxes.

It is the only way to know when the shoes are all stored in boxes or in
furniture.
