What I can't resist

maur...@aol.comnojunk (Maurey Lancaster)
for me, I have to have the following:
Natural based lotion cleansers
Right now in my arsenal I have REN cleanser for sensitive skin, Aubrey Vegecol
cleanser, Weleda Almond Cream Cleanser, Dr. Hauschka cleansing milk and Never
Too Busy to Be Beautiful lotion cleanser. All of these are for sensitive skin.
I switch around between them all and I love them! Just heard about a new one
from Dermalogica and I'm desperate for that one too!
Scrubs/exfolitaors
I have Kiehls Papaya scrub/face mask, Lush Sea Salt scrub, Philosophy's
Greatest love/Greatest mystery and their Great One scrub, which uses Vitamin C
to dissolve the scrub crystals. There's the Daily Exfoliant from Dermologica
that I'm also dying for...
Lipglosses
I decided that The Balm glosses were for me, so I bought up a huge number of
them last time I was in the States. Now I stumbled upon Tarte double glosses
and I'm completely hooked on those! And the other day I tried out the Jessica
Simpson Dessert line––I want those too!
Anyone else with a real weakness?
Maurey (remove "no junk" from my address to email me)

Anyone else with a real weakness?
Too many to count, Maurey! (But I'll try...)
Purses, purses, purses.
Shoes and boots, from fine to funky.
Coats.
I can't seem to walk past stores/departments that sell these things without
"just looking to see what they're giving away"! And when the weather is too
vile to shop in real life, I treat my computer like a giant mall for
browsing my passions.
I seem to have gotten my makeup collecting under control. (I'd have to live
to be 400 years old to make a dent in my eye shadow collection.) I'm not
comfortable with making a particularly strong statement with my cosmetice; I
much prefer to be bold with clothing and accessories.

Lipsticks and lip glosses. That Nars Orgasm is speaking to me but I just
can't do it!! I've probably got 75–100 and won't use them in 3 years. But
I do try to use gloss even when I don't use any other makeup, so I do make
use of it. The kicker this year is my lips have been chapped so much that I
haven't been wearing anything but lip balm for the last month!
Jamie
ami kio <...@cant–take–anymore–spam.com>
Moisturizers. I have at least 10 facial moisturizers and 7 body lotions
waiting for use, but does that stop me from buying another one? Nooooo....
Shoes. Even DH, who pretty much supports (i.e. "as long as it makes you
happy) all my purchases, has raised his eyebrows at my recent shoe buying
spree.

When I first arrived at alt.fashion, it was makeup in all
forms––foundations, lipsticks, glosses, blushes, you name it. I think I was
making up for lost time or something. But over the years, I accumulated so
much more than I could ever use, that it's only the most special or unique
items that catch my eye nowadays.
I've always always always been a huge handbag freak, though. My handbags
have their own closet. Seriously. Shelves and shelves of beautiful bags,
each in their own dustbag. They are such a major weakness for me. My
husband calls them my "children", and that they seem to "mysteriously
reproduce in that closet"! :)
Leilani
Lindy_Joa...@hotmail.com
I can't resist handbags either... I just keep buying more and more
like an addict. I usually keep my bags in a large wood chest but now
it's packed so I have a bunch of bags sitting in their dustbags on
*top* of the chest!
I also can't walk past lipsticks/lip glosses without buying one...e.g.
Today at Target when I was supposed to *just get a roll of film
developed* and somehow ended up purchasing Almay's Whipped Gloss in
Polished Nude (supposedly a special Target only shade). It's very nice
but I have probably 10 others in the same color!!!
"melizabeth" <myfakeaddr...@nospam.com>
*Hats...I looooove them. Plus I don't need to take off a bunch of clothing
to try them on.
*Shoes...I am becoming more picky though and not just purchasing because I
like them and they are on sale. They must fill a void in my wardrobe.
*Bags...instant updates to the wardrobe. Now I am looking for "dual
functioning bags". Must be interesting and can carry diaper/baby supplies
without looking "diapery".
My cosmetic purchases are now limited to replacements.

I can so relate.
I did just take 5 bags to the Thrift Store though, so I feel better
about freeing up a small area on my shelves. lol
I am trying to do better this year in regards to buying makeup and in
particular, lipsticks, on a whim.

I feel the same way. At first I was buying everything anyone raved
about, and the fact that many of these products weren't readily
available (either locally or on the net) at the time made the draw even
stronger. Now most everything is available both locally and online,
and the mystique has cleared. I still try raved about products
occasionally, but only occasionally.
One of my enduring weaknesses is blushes. The color and texture of the
blush I wear makes as much difference in my appearance as my lipstick,
and can bring my complexion 'alive'.
Shoes will always be an obsession for me – I love them! And I continue
to buy them even though I have a closet full of them, even after just
having given away several lawn bags full of shoes to charity. They are
one of those simple pleasures in life.
Although I love shoulder bags, I usually only buy one good one a year.
I say this after just having bought three during the Christmas shopping
season, but that's unusual for me.
Linda
"Tungsten" <Whitehall.Ma...@gmail.com>
New lipsticks. New lipstick shades, or new products in existing lines
is a guaranteed buy for me. And if I find I really love a line (like
Maybelline's Forever lipcolors) I usually buy a majority of the shades
that look good on me.

Oh how I wish I had my own handbag closet. I could really use one. :) Yep,
handbags have been my major weakness since I was little.
Lately I'm unable to resist home decorating items since I just got a new
house and I'm loving the process of adding new things. In the last couple
of weeks I've purchased a soft plush dark green leather chair, a red heart
shaped faux leather ottoman (soooo cute), a new bed, a bed of red velvet
roses in a dark brown wood holder (looks gorgeous on the mantle), faux white
roses in a silver square vase (I generally dislike fake flowers but these
are too gorgeous to resist), iron–type candle holders with a leaf design on
it for the mantle, a big clock with a leaf design on the sides (similar to
the candle holders), and sage green curtains! All of these except the green
chair are from Target. I could live in that store!

Stacy Ferguson <stac...@stacyef.net>
I can't resist trying new products for curly hair despite the fact that
the Devacurl and Ouidad products are the only ones that seem to work
(with the exception of a couple of Fekkai hair balms to smooth down
frizz on my hair after it's dry, which I had already been using before I
spent at least another $400–500 over a couple of years on curly hair
styling crap that doesn't help).
Red lipsticks and glosses
Handbags. That's my biggest weakness for sure.

I have the palette weakness under control (for the moment anyway). But
there are others:
LeSportsac handbags. I'm a handbag ho like it sounds, much of the rest
of AF. I'm also liking Stone Mountain bags for being relatively
reasonable and classic but trendy at the same time.
Silver dangly earrings with stones. I'm looking for tourmaline/silver
for the spring. I want more iolites :–). I also love art glass
earrings.
Hair doodads. I picked up a Brighton tortoiseshell claw with silver
trim, Hair Jewelry as they call it. I can see myself adding more
Brighton hair jewelry to my stash. And more Brighton everything, now
that I think of it....

don't have to worry about buying more than a couple per year at their
prices!

I, too, love Stone Mountain bags...the leather is quite soft even though it is
inexpensive. They also go on sale and are extremely affordable when they do.
Great colors as well.

Barb, Jamie – I think these bags are my latest obsession. The quality
is excellent, they have loads of pockets and I like pockets galore,
they have lots of medium size styles and lots of styles w/o magnetic
closures (I still swear these demagnatize credit cards, despite Penn
and Teller's claim on "Bullshit" that they don't – did anyone else see
that show?)
I'm hoping pink hasn't run its course yet, but there's always turquoise
and Stone Mtn. has very cute styles in both colors.
(sigh) So many bags, so little closet space!

FYI, I think Kohl's has bags made by Stone Mountain under another label. Lots
of styles and colors as well. Worth checking out, Vicki!

Barb:
They do, and I have :–). I very nearly bought one in a cocoa brown
nubuck but wanted to look around more first. Then I found the Ashford
medium hobo from the regular Stone Mt. line in the lighter tan and
since that was the color I *really* wanted, got it.
If I get a colored bag, It'll probably be one of the Kohl's/Stone Mtn.
styles.
Vicki in DC, actually going to Kohl's regularly now that they have more
interesting offerings....a welcome change from 2–3 years ago.

favorite things to see on alt.fashion is a Tungsten Lippie Post

Yup, me too. My mother–in–law commented recently that my handbag
addiction is actually more like a handbag fetish – and it's true! Not
only can't I resist buying them, I constantly check out what bags
other women are carrying, try to guess where they bought it, whether
it's real or fake (if it's a designer bag), and I can spend ages just
ogling them on sites like eBags and Neiman's. It really is verging

Yeehaw! I'm like that too. And I thought I'm not normal. I always always
check out other women's bags! And wherever I spot bags, I would be very
watchful. Like, I can list many many bags I like. But I'm able to control
what I should BUY. Though if my career is juggling as many handbags as I
can, I'll be a happy girl.
