Uggs color question

eatwelb...@aol.com (EatWelBWel)
I recently broke down and ordered my first pair of Uggs. I got the ruby short
style after first seeing them several months ago in a Mall store and loving the
color. They were sold out in my size so I got my pair directly from Uggs. I am
disappointed with the color. It's not the claret red that I was expecting, but
more like a semi–shocking pink. I called the 800# and they told me there could
be variations in shades and I could return for another pair. I haven't even
tried them on yet to see if they fit, but am asking all the Ruby Uggites out
there if you can describe your color.
Do I seem picky or what?

No Sandra, you are not picky at all.for the price, you deserve the color
they showed.
Sorry i can't help with the shade,i have the tan ones.
Good luck.
Von.

I have the Ruby Uggs and they are definitely not claret red, but I wouldn't
call them semi–shocking pink either. To me, they are more like a subdued
darkish rhubarb or geranium, but YMMV as always! :)

Not at all; if they aren't the color you expected, then you should return
them, if that's an option.

No, you don't seem at all picky to me. You expected a different color and
there's nothing wrong with receiving what you expect. I don't have any that
color so I can't help you with your color question.

Someone please enlighten me... What's the deal with Uggs? The only
thing they got right is the name – they are down right Uggly :)
Timmin...@comcast.net
Oh but they are so warm and comfy.!!!

Exactly. I poked fun at them, until I bought a pair because my feet were
so cold and I was desperate for something to warm them. Uggs are the bomb
for cold feet. I even bought some Ugg Clugette slippers (yay for
Zappos.com) for around the house, and I don't know why I went without them
for so long. :)
Michele, also loving the Simple Surfer boots (low–end but still real
shearling and wool, only $35 at Zappos)

How did you size with the Simple boots and Ugg slippers? If you want to
wear them with medium weight socks, do you buy your regular shoe/boot size?

Yes, if you want to wear any real thickness of socks at all, you're going
to want to at least get your regular size. I sized down with the Simple
Surfer boots and went with my regular size for the Ugg slippers, and
while I can wear socks with the slippers, I tend to go sockless, just
because it's so comfortable.
With the Simple boots, socks are not an option with the size down. They
fit very snugly, and I actually had trouble getting them on the first
time. But they stretch very quickly, and are now incredibly comfortable,
albeit without socks.
HTH!

I love those Simple knockoffs of the short UGG boots for around the house
when my toes are cold and I want to wear something a little more than a
clog or a slipper or don't feel like wearing a pair of socks. I purchased
the pink and the mint green ones on sale at Zappos during the holidays.
Wore the pink pair earlier this week. I see the sale is still on so I
ordered the light sand ones today. At $35, they can't be beat and I'm not
out much if the dogs start chewing them up.

I checked those out online and the specs say "fleece lining". Good price,
but they couldn't be as warm as Uggs then, could they?

I don't think they are, no, but I've only worn them inside and without
socks. They're warm and cozy enough for me for an evening in front of the
fireplace and for padding around on wood and colder floors. OTOH, my Uggs
easily go outside in the snow and the inclement, cruddy NE weather. I
also wear them with lightweight socks nearly all of the time.
If where I lived had a moderate winter climate, I'd probably wear the
Simple ones outside but I still wouldn't expect them to last beyond one
season. IMO, the Simple ones are priced right at $35 but I wouldn't pay
full retail for them. Like Michele H said, they're lower end and that's
why I don't mind them inside if/when (it seems inevitable at times with
my slippers) the dogs get to them. HTH, Claire.
