Banana Republic to open petite stores

Evie <lemoncl...@planet–nojunk.nl>
Banana Republic will open its first 3 petites stores in Boston, LA and
Seattle by the end of February (source: WWD). Apparently, BR needs to grow.

Do you mean stand–alone stores (as opposed to sections of existing
stores)? That is very exciting news...I hope it means they are also
planning to introduce more petite styles than they offer currently.
Thanks for posting!

I think it's great for woman who are firmly petitite. I'm on the border of
petite and regular and I love that our Banana store here in SF carries both
regular sizes and also has a pretty good petities section (depending upon
how well it is stocked, which can really vary). I appreciate the ability to
check out regular and petite sizes with one stop.
I read on Bus Wk online that those first locations (Boston, LA, Seattle) are
currently Banana men's stores that will be conveted.
If they want to create one–stop petite shopping they'll have to include
accessories including the jewelry and shoes.

I do hope the size range won't stop at 8.

Great idea! I'm approximately 5'2, and Banana's petite clothes fit
well. Their pants are sometimes a little big around the bottom,
however. If it all works out, I guess stand alone petite stores would
be in Canada in two or three years. Toronto only got the petite line
fall 2004, and there is only one store in the entire country that
carries it. Luckily I live in Toronto.
