Dry skin: Dove Body Wash or Dove Beauty Bar

"SweetDeal" <privatep...@yahoo.com>
Dove has a sensitive skin, unscented version in both bar form and body wash.
Is one better than the other for dry skin? Thanks.

It shouldn't make a difference, as long as it's the sensitive–skin version.
Market research always shows that Americans love body washes, so they make
that option available. (You probably already know this, but avoiding very
hot water makes quite a big difference as that's drying.)

Are you trying to clean the skin or to moisturize it? If you are
cleaning, either should be fine. If it's to moisturize, consider
skipping anything with soap at all except for those areas you must wash
(privates, etc). Normal dirt, even sweat from working out, etc. will
just rinse off arms and legs. Then use a moisturizer before you dry off
completely, or something that you use in the shower. I like the Aveeno
oil you apply and rinse off. I tried Moisturinse but it made me itch.

I like Dove but I find that the wash is only a little more moisturizing and
a lot more expensive. I use the bar. A few years ago when I really had a
problem with dry skin I found the Olay wash to be the best moisturizing
wash....Consumer Reports concurred (at least at that time). HTH

Yeah, the Olay wash is very moisturizing. I agree. I know a lot of people
with tremendously dry or ashy skin who've said it's helped them. I don't
think the Olay bars are all that helpful, however. They're not as lotiony.

The Olay wash is regular bathgel with some soybean oil added. You can get the
same effect by putting body oil in a spray bottle and spraying it on before you
leave the shower.

Ivory Moisture Care (a P&G sister brand) seemed to me to be soybean
oil with a lot of other things to make it not feel like you're coating
yourself with soybean oil.
Hey, it does work.

Not exactly because you can't the same fragrances they use. Olay body washes
smell *really* good and they have extracts of Mandarin Orange, Lavender,
Patchouli, etc. (The Ohm! Line has even more essential oil in
it...Sandalwood, Rose, Citrus, Ginger, etc.) depending on the formula you
use. A lot of other drugstore brands use these crappy synthetic fragrances
and Olay uses the actual essential and fruit oils, which last on the skin
longer. I've used Olay and still smelled it on me like five hours later, yet
with Suave or some cheaper brand, the scent wore off.
