OT: catalina island

is anyone on the group familiar w/catalina island in CA? i am trying to plan a
trip there and am trying to find out where is good to stay for diving, etc.

oh yeah. I am pretty familiar with it. I even know someone who works
catalina express. where were you planning on taking off from? San
Pedro? Newport or Long Beach?
also you need to BOOK NOW for rooms. it gets very busy during the
spring/summer and some of the local hotels could help you with setting
up dive trips
