As for AOL, it provides many more features than just a connection to
the internet, and as you know, the more features that exist, the more
there is to break. So you'll hear more complaints about a service
that has a rich offering of features than you will about a service
that just connects you to the net.
Like I mentioned earlier about AOL, it seems they got off to such a bad
start when they did a big marketing project by sending out disks to
almost every household on the planet and were caught off guard with the
response. For some reason that error has stuck with them. But AOL is
just another internet provider and just that. Someday those who look
down on it will finally accept that (hopefully).
But I get a lot of flack from people because I prefer Macintosh
computers (I love my iBook) and it's sort of the same thing. But that's
not the case, it's just that I like them and serve my purpose. What I
do for a living doesn't dictate what I use at home by any means...
Sort of the same thing I suppose?

They keep doing it, I get an AOL CD at least 3x/year.

One with a good deal of proprietary content, one of its draws.

Macintosh has 3% of the market and 0.01% of the malware.
The downside is premium pricing, but Apple keeps getting incrementally
aggressive in that area.

Why? I get paid to fix Windows by day and come home to Macs at night.
They are the clearly superior platform now with OSX. It's nice to have
a machine that just works and is very dependable.

:) More like 0.0000001% of the Malware, esp. with OSX.

The pricing is cometitive with like configured computers. Sure, they
are not competitive with the $399 Dell machines. But, any Dell is not
worth the cardboard box it comes in, even the high end mahcines. And
that's spoken as a PC tech – Dell is utter GARBAGE!

Actually, that was me who said that part, and I am in exactly the same
situation you are. Fix Windows by day, come home to Macs at night. But
I haven't tried Thunderbird yet although I do use Firefox.

This part of your reply was for Charlie, but if I was going to buy an
intel Windows machine, I'd probably go Dell just for the price. Alas,
it ain't going to happen anyway so it's just not an issue ;–)
