Coat– designer help

Emily <ejg...@yahoo.com>
I found a beautiful calf length, camel colored coat in the thrift store.
My dry cleaner verified it was cashmere. The only label has: Kwon Suk
Im Fashion Designs McLean Virginia.
The coat is beautifully made and I would just like to know a little more
about it. Is anybody familiar with Kwon Suk Im?
Thanks...Emily

Congratulations on the great find, Emily. Can you describe the coat? (And
would you care to tell us how much you paid for it?)
Are you near Virginia or did the coat travel a long distance to the thrift
store?
curiously yours,

I have posted a picture at: http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q5E52235A
It has slightly poofy sleeves, princess seaming (not too apparent in the
photo), and a fullish skirt. The flap pockets are faux but it has slit
pockets that are hidden in the skirt folds (you can see the one on the
right in the picture).
I am in North Carolina. I volunteer a couple times a week at a thrift
store and one of the little old ladies that works there saved the coat
for me. I did put some money in their donation box as a thank you. I
may just have to go back and add some more. :) I was told the lady who
brought it in said it was hand–made for her aunt.
I feel very elegant wearing it. It probably is the nicest thing I own.

Oh, Emily! It is totally GORGEOUS! Wear it in good health! (And don't
just save it for special occasions. Any occasion will *become* special when
you wear a coat like that!)
Enviously, admiringly yours,

Emily,
Here is a link in USA today that talks about the Designer.
I grew up in the McLean area and thought it sounded familiar. Sounds like a
great buy. He is Korean and designs for Lynn Cheney and other prominent
Washingtonians.

The link doesn't take one to the article but rather to an annoying

Here's the article:
Tailor has designs on both Cheneys
By Susan Page, USA TODAY
Lynne Cheney was quick to call Kwon Suk Im as soon as she knew she was
going to the inaugural balls. She asked the Korean émigré, who makes
much of her wardrobe, to design her clothes for husband Dick Cheney's
inauguration as vice president next weekend.
The result: a slim, full–length gown for the inaugural balls of metallic
Chantilly lace in seafoam green and gold over a silk satin dress in a
similar seafoam green.
For the swearing–in ceremony at noon Saturday, Im is making a two–piece
satin crepe suit in sage green, with a matching coat in double wool
crepe. The coat's collar is trimmed in light brown fox.
Im, 48, emigrated to the United States in 1980 and opened his small shop
in McLean, Va., two years later. Now he has a high–powered clientele
whose photos adorn the walls . Im describes his clients' tastes as
"simple, classic, elegant" for suits that run from $800 to $3,000 and
evening dresses that run from $2,000 to $4,000.
He'll have another client on the inaugural stand Saturday: Dick Cheney,
who's ordered a new tuxedo of black Tasmanian wool for the inaugural balls.
