Yes it's standard and I suppose is funny when he replies to someone
posting spam msgs promoting their wares/websites/etc, but not all that
humorous when someone news asks an innocent question.

As mentioned elsewhere in here, AOL members could email the company
explaining their accounts will be cancelled if they drop it and maybe,
just maybe they'd change the decision?
