Clinique Bonus Time and returns–please advise ASAP

holliesademoc...@aol.com (HolliesaDemocrat)
I bought a dramatically different moisturizing gel to try and got the free GWP,
however I hate the stuff. It makes my pores looks even larger, if that is
possible.
Anyway, when I return this must I return the GWP as well?

GWP,
let your conscience be your guide.
i have tried to return a GWP in the past, but they wouldn't take it.

Clinique wanted to give you a gift. It's yours to keep.

If Clinique wanted to give you a gift, they wouldn't have a purchase
requirement. Clinique wanted to induce people to buy from them by
giving a gift with PURCHASE.
Which doesn't answer the OP's question, since she did indeed make a
legitimate purchase. If it were me, I would probably offer to return
the GWP, or would purchase something else to *justify* keeping it.
OTOH, I doubt that returning the GWP would benefit anyone, as they
probably could not reuse it unless it was completely sealed (eg, shrink
wrapped).
I'm purposely not addressing the question of whether it is legitimate
to return the product, which was not the subject of the inquiry.

though i didnt work for clinique i did work for lancome and when we had
gwp we werent allowed to take a product back if you didnt return it
with the gwp. the idea was they went together so if you dont have the
purchase anymore you dont have the gift. it was a way for the counter
to not have too many returns and to stop people from buying one thing
to just keep the free gift.
my advice would be to bring both the product and the gwp with you and
see what the ba tells you, mayeb if they see that you mean well they
will let you keep the gwp (which i often did)

Barbara, what you say makes good sense. I agree with you that the right
thing to do is to offer to return the GWP.

What about returning the product that did not work for your skin type, and
requesting an exchange applied toward another Clinique product you can
use.... either at the time of return or in the future, and keep the gwp? I
am not in the business, but my guess is that the purpose of the gwp is to
increase loyal customers, not just book transactions.

I would buy something of equal value, however I really don't like any
of Clinique's products. Thanks to Back to MAC, I have lipsticks coming
out my ears, I dislike the foundation formulations, and the blushes
weren't the best consistency. With so much stuff, I couldn't justify
buying something I knew I wouldn't use (though I spent the better part
of an hour trying to do so).
So in the end, I just returned the moisturizer, and the SA (whom my
friend knew from school) told me to keep the gift. They had boxes left
over, so many that he even gave my friend one even though she didn't
purchase anything!
So it worked out well in the end, though I'm sure he wasn't strictly
adhering to policy.
