Maybelline Age Rewind – preliminary report!

KMS <badgerda...@puttyhead.combustible>
I finally tried the new Maybelline Instant Age Rewind foundation for the
first time yesterday. I picked up the lightest shade, Porcelain Ivory,
for $3 (after sale/coupon) at Walgreens last week. It's a thickish
liqui–cream so I dotted it on with a finger and then blended it out with
a foundation brush (over my usual Paula's Choice Super Antioxidant
Concentrate and Olay Complete Defense SPF 30). It blends very well and I
didn't even have to stipple like crazy over my acne scars like I usually do.
The color is a good match for me, but I hated the finish right when I
applied it. It was *very* dewey/shimmery/shiny. I prefer a somewhat
dewey finish to an uber–matte one, but this was a bit much. I dusted
some Dior Aquapowder on top and that toned things down a bit, but my
face still felt very masky and sticky. I wouldn't dare try to apply
powder blush over this stuff because I think it would grab like crazy.
It continued to feel a bit masky throughout the day, but it ceased
feeling sticky after a couple of hours and it didn't *look* masky at
all. In fact, it looked quite natural and soft and it did seem to fuzz
out some of my imperfections a bit. I can't say I noticed any lifting or
firming, but it wore well and didn't pool up in my pores or emphasize my
fine lines or anything like that.I noticed a couple of clogged pores
when I washed it off at night, but that could have been a coincidence.
So I give this stuff a thumb sideways. Once the finish was toned down a
bit, it looked very nice. But I didn't like the masky, sticky feel of
this stuff. I'll be interested to read other reviews!

I like it alot. I am 46 and it makes my face look great. Not to dewy
but my skin tends to be a bit dry. What I dont like is that it doesnt
have a pump to get the makeout out
