Scott Barnes Cosmetics

"LeL" <...@starband.net>
Anyone tried his products yet? I was a day late for the online sale – so I
did not order at full price (yet). I would love to hear reviews from those
who have tried his products. The blush trios look beautiful and the Beauty
Bento Box on his website looks sooooo enticing, as do the lip glosses,
bronzers and body bling!
TIA,
Ellie

Ellie,
I bought a Lash Varnish and lip slick in Show Off. The Lash Varnish was
AWFUL for me! I posted in another msg (I think 'fave mascara') briefly
about it and meant to post a rant in another post but got distracted by an
urchin. It was almost identical to Great Lash, which I abhor (except it had
a much better brush). It didn't do anything at all to beef up my lashes. I
applied a couple of coats and curled and curled. Nothing helped. And I did
let it dry before each subsequent application. There was nothing that
indicated it was waterproof (although I assumed it was) and it was a bear to
remove – even with Albolene. And when I was wearing it, it kept slightly
migrating down underneath my eyes. I've never had this problem with my
L'Oreal mascaras! It was so bad that I threw it in the trash the very next
day. I'm glad I only paid half price for it.
On the other hand, the lip slick looks to be a keeper. I haven't worn it
for an extended period of time, just tried it when it came and left it on
for that afternoon. It feels very emollient and non–drying. It was even
soothing to my chapped lips right now. The color is true to the color shown
on the site. I can't vouch for it's staying power but I don't really care.
It felt so good that I won't mind reapplying it. Oh, I also wanted to say
that the consistency is wonderful. When I stuck my finger on it to apply,
my finger actually went into it like a thick gel (and the box had been
sitting on my front porch for awhile in the cold – well 50's). I think the
consistency would be a problem though for those with longer hair that may
get stuck in the gloss. I didn't notice that the gloss 'set up'.
I know that Melanie was intersted in the body bling (I don't know if she
purchased, but she was headed that way). Stevie had it but hadn't tried it
yet.
HTH,
Jamie

I bought two Flossy Glossies, Sassy and Meow, and a Lip Slick in Show
Off. Sassy is a bright medium pink–magenta–ish color in the tube but
goes on very sheer. Meow goes on sheer pale peach. While the colors in
the tubes may be shocking at first––at least for my tastes––the colors
actually look good on your lips because they're so sheer. (I have
medium–yellow tone skin and dark black–brown hair.) The applicator is
a brush (rather than a sponge tip) but the bristles stay together and
are tapered for easy, even application––unlike my experience with Bobbi
Brown lip gloss brushes with the blunt ends and bristles sticking every
which way (I *really* wish they would fix that)! The texture is
creamy and a a bit sticky, as is the case with lip glosses, but not
tooo annoying with my long hair. I did not find the glosses to have
much staying power. Overall, nice but not soo nice that I would buy
them again unless they had a better range of colors. There are so many
fantastic lip glosses out there for much less.
The Lip Slick, on the other hand, I would purchase again. It comes in
the cutest little compact (with a mirror!) and is surprisingly creamy
and rich! The color of Show Off is beigey–peach, which is perfect for
a nude lip on me. The color is buildable and, despite being opaque,
looks "natural" (vs. that painted on look). HTH!
PS SORRY if this posts twice...I received a "Server Error" the first
time. Lindy
