OT: To frozen a.f.ers!

"cofarb" <do...@cofarb.com>
I hope everyone is able to stay warm, safe and dry following the frigid
temps and blizzard conditions.
We'd had a pretty easy winter so far but it got to 25 below zero on Friday
night and "warmed up" to about 5 yesterday. I see a very unfashionable
snowsuit and shoveling gear in my fashion crystal ball.

thinking of you down here in chilly northern Florida – WE might even
see high 20's tonight!
Cats shud be doin' extra snugglin' duty! Friend of mine has an old guy
who yowls now if she doesn't keep his chair towel warm ( she puts it in
dryer for a minute or two)

That's a lot easier (a) if they listened to the National Weather
Service and stayed in, and (b) whatever utilities they need to stay
warm are working.
No precipitation around Houston, but yesterday's air conditioning is
going to be replaced with today's heating. We went from 77 Friday to
75 Saturday to 33 Sunday... with northerly blasts that bring the wind
chill down to 21.
I think it's exhiliarating, but I'd suspect native Houston AFers would
complain about it all the way to the Galleria.

There's a marketing opportunity I see here here: the new line,
"Carhartt for Saks Fifth Avenue." <grin/duck>

We do have the frozen conditions here in the Central Valley of
California, but what we are currently dealing with is the 24 hour Tule
fog. The weather stays at 40–44 degrees 24 hours, and at times,
especially in the early morning hours, the fog is thick. A number of
fatal accdents this time of year are attributed to the fog, or driving
too fast for the foggy condtions. Sometimes, you cannot see more than
two white lines in front of the car.

Pink Carhartt. Not a bad concept. And if "they" could make Timberland
boots into a fashion item, fashionable farmwear should be easy.

My husband brought home a pair of leather workboots that he thought would be
great for me to wear ice fishing. (dreamer). I was THRILLED to have these
boots yesterday as i trudged through the snow up and down chicago streets. Now
I know why everyone in these climates should have a pair of 'sensible shoes'.

yeah....I do NOT like shoveling with my nose running. I think there are about
20" of snow here....I shoveled yesterday, but wind is blowing it all around
anyway. You know when you open the front door and there is a foot of snow
pressing to come inside?
I will be wearing three layers of everything.

What would be *the* most fashionable snowsuit?

I picture a ski bunny––someone very Nordic and leggy, whose nose doesn't
turn red and whose face is *never* splotchy. Very trim snowsuit––powder
blue or baby pink...or silver... When I get bundled up, I look more like
one of the kids from South Park.

Just as long as you don't look like the Michelin Man's GF. <grin/duck>

yikes! we haven't gotten that cold here, but i've seen 7 this week. and the
snow wasn't as bad as i was expecting here in the city, but out in the burbs
there are some pretty buried spots. i got my new car last week and expected to
find it under a drift this morning, but i'm parked just off an avenue and it
seems the wind blowing up the ave kept the drifts off the first few cars at the
end of the street. i don't need glamorous shoveling clothes, but i'm wearing
massive fleece sweats over silk longjohns, with timberland boots and my 'lil
astronaut' silver down coat, for dogwalking and other outdoor fun today. it's
not pretty but it's cosy!

Ahhh, the luxury of having a broken back and a 14 year old son who's
strong as an ox ;–)
